In the latter years of M41, High Admiral Terkamer launched what would come to be known as the Phalanges Crusades.
The Phalanges Sub Sector has been without the light of the emperor for over 120 years. It was once a rich and prosperous sector, but over the past century many of it�s systems have fallen to dark gods, pirates, and aliens. Many warp storms ravage the area, making warp travel dangerous if not impossible. The one fading light for humanity is Valderan and the few core systems in it�s immediate reach.
Valderan has in the past had been the one strong point in this isolated sector, fighting off pirates, stopping invasions and holding what little remained together; but all this constant fighting is starting to take it�s toll. Valderan is becoming weak. Seeing this, many of the Emperor's enemies are starting to circle like sharks. Eldar pirates have moved in to the system, their goals unknown, but they are making shipping difficult. Even worse, an Ork fleet has been spotted moving in system.
Desperate times call for desperate actions. It was decided that a single ship could be �spared� to brave the warp storms and try a dangerous long distance blind jump, in the vain hope of finding help. Beyond all odds, the ship made it through to deliver it's message.
It was with this news and the prospect of reopening a whole subsector that High Admiral Terkamer gathered what meager forces he could and set off to save the Phalanges. |
