I was in Palestine, Tx. on March 18, 2001 so I decided to get photos of the Texas State Railroad's steam trains as they make their Sunday runs. Two trains operate, one runs roundtrip from Rusk to Palestine, the other the opposite and they meet in the middle twice.
#300 travelling from Palestine to Rusk.
Crossing Stills Creek.
#300 coming into Maydelle.
Passing the Maydelle depot. The train doesn't stop here but there is a nice collection of older freight cars and track equipment nearby.
I missed the meet of the two trains so I rushed back the other way and barely caught #400 three miles outside of Palestine. Here she is running at a good pace whistling for the crossing.
