Starbug narrowly wins a battle with some murderous cyborgs, or "Rogue Simulants". However the "Simulants" have infected Starbug with a computer virus and the ship is locked on a collision course with a volcanic planet. Kryten attempts to fight the virus, the battle against the virus taking the form of an old wild-west movie in his mechanical mind, but the virus overtakes him. Lister, Cat and Rimmer then enter Kryten's wild-west dream using an artificial reality video game in attempt to buy Kryten some time to come up with an antidote.
