Frequently Asked Questions About frivality

frivality
? Whats the joke there? Did I miss it?

Probably...its rare someone just looks at it and gets it. FrivALity evolved from the word frivolity, which came from frivolous, which means basically a silly waste of time and energy. I felt it was applicable.

How often do you work on this page, anyway?

I work on it whenever I have a free moment. I also have gotten into the habit of noticing my surroundings and linking them to Al. (Posters, TV shows, things people have said, all of those have inspired bits of frivAlity.)

How long have you been a fan of Als?

Since roughly December of 1999. (Interestingly enough, I was born in the same year as Als professional career. That would be the copyright on his first album-1983. I was actually born around a month after its release.)

When did you pass the level of slightly interested to huge fan?

Well, I first got hooked on Al when a friend of mine named Anna sat some headphones on my ears and made me listen to Truck Drivin Song. The night ended by me borrowing her CD for upwards of two weeks, and memorizing every lyric. About two months later, Al came to Cedar Rapids, and my boyfriends friend had tickets. I went (with an injured foot) and saw Al live, and thats when the obsession really kicked in. I figure Ive financed Als meals for a week, with all the CDs, videos, and related paraphernalia Ive purchased. Ive been to twenty
concerts total, in states ranging from California to New Jersey to Texas.

Whats the best Al related moment youve had?

Well, that would be in July of 2002, at the Orange County Fair. I had front row center seats, and Al went down on his knees and sang to me during Melanie. That was so incredibly cool and awesome that I have no words to describe exactly how cool and awesome it was.

What are your plans for the future?

In the future, I would like to move to sunny California and settle down with a rich and lucrative career as an actress/singer and invite Al round for tea periodically.

Are those
dreams real?

Yep. All of them are certifiably real. I really did tour with Al (in my mind), really did try and traverse the Torture Campus, and I really did invite Al down to my basement. (By the way, Al, the invite stands in real life...) All of them are faithfully recorded in as much detail as I can remember.

Why are you so weird?

Blame it on Al, Dr. Demento, Red Dwarf, Are You Being Served?, Monty Python, and in fact every single piece of comedy Ive ever seen, read, heard, or heard about. (And thats a lot.) If you met me in real life, be assured that you would be just as convinced that I am, indeed, odd.
