I am SMEE
About ME
I love the color ORANGE with an undying passion and
Chuck Norris is my all-time hero. In my reality, I am an excessively happy, high energy six-year old. In yours however, I am sixteen. I am presently coaching a 3rd and 4th grade soccer team at Guilford Central School with my friend, Steph. Recently, I joined the World of Difference peer training program and I enjoy being a part of that. I am also running cross country for the first time. I have a tendancy to try new things, regardless of how terriable I know I will be at them. Cross country is a perfect example of this, as is Ice Hockey, which I took up last year (...without having the slightest idea about how to stop on skates ). I am going to play Ice Hockey again this year, and then I will have Lacrosse in the spring. I wish I had time to be in school plays, CLEA, and the Student Democrats, but I'll wait until my next lifetime to do that. While I can't say I enjoy learning various languages (with the exception of latin), because I dislike speaking them, I find other cultures to be fascinating. For two weeks in the spring, I am going to Germany through the school's exchange program. I also intend to apply to travel a b r o a d over the 2005 summer with the Janeway or Freeman scholorship foundations. After high school, I am seriously condisering the Peace Core for a year, and then becoming a doctor of some kind, possibly an Orthopedic Surgeon. I love dancing in the rain, hard core camping, singing at the top of my voice in public places and, of course, having grand times with friends. I dislike paragraphs, but for your convenience, I will use them for the rest of this site.
...and now about How I Learn
According to the survey, I work best through
intrapersonal study, which is apparently a fifth of my learning style. Cancer WEB's Online Medical Disctionary wrote that the definition of "intrapersonal" is as follows: "...psychological dynamics that occur inside the mind without reference to the individual's exchanges with other persons or events" I believe this to be very true of myself, although I would not have thought of it as a learning style prior to taking the survey.
90 points, or 13% of how I learn is
existential. The Cancer WEB's Online Dictionary wrote that existential means "pertaining to a branch of philosophy, existentialism, concerned with the search for the meaning of ones own existence...". Dictionary.com simplifies that by writing: "based on experience..." To me, this also comes as no surprise.
          I scored a 70 (which is 13%) in being a
naturalist, kinesthetic, and visual learner. (A natural learner believes that the world can be explained through science and in my opinion, this describes me well. While someone who learns kinesthetically, does so by physically moving. I would have thought that kinesthetic learning had a slightly larger overall impact on how I learn, but these results could still be possibly accurate. Regardless of testing results, I continue to think that visual learning has a much more significant role in how I learn. This idea of being a visual learner mostly comes from the fact that when studying for a test, I memorize how the information appears on the page, and can sometimes read my notes as I view them in my own memory.
This test showed that only about 7% of my knowledge at the present time is being acquired by
musical, interpersonal, and verbal learning. This is surprising only because I was unaware of the fact that I can learn anything through music. I am not sure if "verbal" is referring to auditory learning, learning through speaking, or both. Whatever the case, this comes as no surprise.
Finally, I have always known that my strengths are weakest in the areas of
logic. This survey reinforces this idea, as I scored a 20 in the logical learning section, which is equivalent to 4%. I thought that this section would be even lower than it is, but these results make sense as well.
