| The Night Before Christmas Lord of the Rings style |
| 'Twas the night before Christmas, to bed, all of Middle Earth had went Not a creature was stirring, not even an Ent The one ring was kept safe in hiding with care In hopes that Gollum wouldn't be there The hobbits were nestled all snug in their beds While visions of tatters danced in their heads Arwen in her kerchief, and Aragorn in his cap, had just settled down for a long winter's nap When out into the forest, there arose such a clatter I rose from my hobbit-hole to see what was the matter Away to the trees I flew like a flash Tore open my sword and sheild with a clash The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow Gave a luster of shadows to objects below When what to my imaginatio, yes they were there like dorks A miniature sleigh with eigh ugly orcs With a little old driver so lively and quick I asked myself, is that really St, Nick? More rapid than eagles the coursers they came And he whistled and shouted as if they actually had names On Morgai, on Goryoroth, on Shihai and Hirototh, on Shagrat, and Girotel, Pelargir, and Ephel! To the top of the roof, to the top of the wall Now dash away, dash away, dash away all As dry leaves that fall before the hurricane fly When they meet with evil creatures mount to the sky So up to the hobbit-hole top the coursers they flew With a bag full of toys and St.Nickolas too! And then in a twinkling, I saw no decent The stomping and stamping of each pair of feet As I drew my head and was turning around Down the chimney St. Nickolas came with a bound He was dressed in elvish cloaks from his head to his foot And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and some soot A bundle of toys he has flung on his back And he looked just like a dwarf just opening his pack His eyes, oh how they gleamed in the dark misty room His dimples so strange they could only be seen by the light of the moon His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry, you would assume His little mouth, oh how droll! And the beard on his chin made him look just like a troll The smoke from his pipe made a very round link And I'm sure you would agree that it made my house stink He had a broad face and a belly so hilly That shook when he laughed and made him look rather silly He was chubby like a dwarf But right and jolly like an elf And I laughed at him in spite of myself A wink of his eye, and his finger he laid, soon got me to know that I shouldn't be afraid He spook not a word but went straight to his work And filled all the stocking, then turned with a smirk Then back to the chimney he slowly went To return from where he was originally sent He sprang to his sleigh, to his team he gave a moun And away they flew with an exasperated groan And they glided away like the nasgul so quick But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" |
