Red Cavalier (1990 - December 12, 2001)

Heather with Red Cavalier in June 2000
December 12, 2001 - Red Cavalier died of old age and engine failure at 7:52 this morning. Red Cavalier died on Cochran Road in Scott Township, just on the border of it's most unfavorate town, Heidelberg. Red Cavalier is survived by its owner Heather who was just trying to get to school to take her Communications III final. "Red Cavalier was a good car. Until it left me stranded in Heidelberg! Damn it!" says owner Heather. Heather was later rescued by her good friend, Red Explorer. Viewings today at the Heidelberg Exxon, then later in Heather's driveway, until burial in the junkyard.
Instead of mourning the loss, let's remember the good times we had with Red Cavalier:
The radio in Red Cavalier never worked so Heather's brother installed a CD player in it but that never worked right, so Heather got another CD player installed. That worked half the time.
Red Cavalier was pulled over by a state trooper for going too fast on 79. Heather was given 4 points for driving 61 in a 45mph zone. A month later Heather saw on the news that the state trooper had been hit and killed on 79, right in the same area where she got pulled over. Too bad she didn't request a trial, the trooper would have never made it and she'd be $136 richer right now.
Red Cavalier's muffler was half hanging off and Heather drove around like that for a month. Her uncle later used some wire to tie it back on.
Heather's uncle often teased her and said "You should be waxing that car!"
Red Cavalier's passenger side back door never opened without being kicked from the inside.
Every winter, Red Cavalier's locks would freeze.
When it was cold, it took about half an hour for the defroster to start working.
Red Cavalier always seemed confused. It would blow out cold air when the heat was on, and hot air when the air conditioner was on.
Red Cavalier always made a strange noise when the defroster, heat, or air conditioner was turned off.
Red Cavalier always looked so nice in the parking lots of Raceway Plaza. It fit right in with all the other old, falling apart cars.
Red Cavalier's early life:
Red Cavalier was originally owned by Heather's uncle. Heather remembers him doing doughnuts in the snow with Red Cavalier in front of her grandma's house. Another memorable time was when Heather was taking a walk with her friend, and she got to her grandma's house to find Red Cavalier parked in front of it with the back door wide open and an open box of pizza in the back seat, and nobody was around. That was just totally random.
In middle school Heather went to Idlewild with her cousins and uncle, who drove in Red Cavalier. Her uncle was getting something out of the trunk when one her cousins locked the keys inside the car. Since the trunk was open, Heather's uncle got in the trunk and kicked the back seat out, then her cousin crawled through and got the keys.
Rest in peace, Red Cavalier!
