General:
A14 is easily among the top 3 most hated stages on Advanced. It is very
frustrating if you dont
know what to do, those stupid punchers never seem to give way. For the
WR,
you need to do
this stage in less than 2 1/2 seconds, so have fun. As you should have
noticed, the movement of
the punchers come from movements of the board, so you actually control
them,
though
somewhat indirectly. For notational purposes, there are 5 puncher sets
(they
have "AV" written
on them, I never noticed until I wrote this strat), and each of them
has 6
punchers.
I want a consistent finish!
Go throught the first pair of punchers like for the WR strat (see
below),
and for the second pair,
erm, take your time, and tilt the board a lot:). Its easy and you
wont
have problems anyway.
I want a good score!
Tough to tell what a good score is here, and Ill go for a rather high
11500. This is what you
should easily get if you manage to pull off the WR strat.
I want the record!
Whee, good luck. Well its not that bad, just stick to it. The basic
idea is
to take the shortest
route to the goal, once to the left, then to the right. So basically
the
whole thing reduces to
getting two pairs of opposing punchers to move of the way in the moment
you
get there.
First things first. The first pair of opposing punchers (formally: the
NE
puncher of the SW set and
the SW puncher of the central set) is easy to evade. Hold left as you
start
(left, not up-left), after
a split-second pull right and go ahead. The punchers should move out of
the
way nicely. Also,
this should happen rather consistently. Now you want to start reducing
speed
and start moving
to the right, but you want to hit the red part of the N bumper of the
SW
set. It will hit you nicely
to the right, you will pick up the banana, and if youre lucky, the
second
pair of opposing
punchers (formally: the NW puncher of the central set and the SE
puncher of
the NW set) will
move out of the way and you can go straight into the goal. You need to
try a
lot of things for
yourself, because Im sure this (or in fact any) description of what to
do
is too vague to give you
good scores instantly.
