It all started back August 2002 when Mat first told me that Charles Martinet was coming to Australia. It was posted on the Nintendo Australia website with a little mini website that had Mario talking about the tour and promoting the new game Super Mario Sunshine (which had just previously been released in America to coinside with their Summer). Mat and I had known about the new game and this great news only made us more excited to get the chance to see the man himself. We had a plan. I don't recall who's idea it was at the time but we both decided to head out and buy ourselves some genuine plumbers outfits. We took a Wednesday afternoon after school to go to a warehouse to buy the overalls. We honestly thought that at the tour there would be many people dressed up as their favourite plumbing hero but how wrong we were as we found out later on. The overalls where purchased and then it was only a matter of waiting until that very day.
After a whole month of waiting, that day finally came and we set out on the train to MegaMart in Auburn which was where the tour was that dat. It was an even more of a special time for Mat since his birthday was only the day before and we stayed up all night remeniscing and playing our favourite Mario games. We arrived sometime in the morning before mid-day to find the store fairly quiet with only the odd person walking in every 10 minutes. Posters and banners where hung up above our heads with the big logo "Super Mario Sunshine".
