Episode 16: Heating Up
"We're really sorry...about, you know...what happened yesterday." Tails kinda stumbles upon
his words, forcing out an apology.
*Look, you guys don't have to baby me about it.* Syaoran replies. *I know you guys are taking the blame for Sakura's death, but you know it's not true. She's..* he chokes up momentarily, *gone and there's nothing you could have done about it. So stop feeling so bad about it.*
Yoshi asks, "What? You can't be just over it like that, though, can you?"
*No...I'm not. It just hurts me to have you guys all down in the pits when...that's my job.*
Amy puts her hand on Syaoran's shoulder. "Likewise, it hurts us as much as it hurts you...you can't just take all the grief and pin it on yourself."
*Thanks...but...really...oh fine, you win.*
Amy giggles. "See? Now...nothing against Sakura, but it'll only hurt you more if you keep thinking about her every moment. So...take her off your mind a little...focus on something else..."
Pichu looks down at the chasm on the sides of the dirt path. "Pi pichu pichuchu pipi? (Like a rising lake of boiling lava?)
"Yeah, like a rising lake of boiling- WHAT?"
Yoshi shouts, "We have to get to shelter fast!"
*What shelter? Wherever we go will get incinerated by the lava!*
Tails thinks for a moment. "How about...up?"
Jigglypuff shouts, "Jiggly puffpuff jigjigjiggly! (Everyone, get up the platforms!)"
The group begins to frantically scale the plethora of platforms towering above them in an attempt to rise the quickly rising lava, with some being more successful than others. Tails and Jigglypuff easily fly up into the sky, Amy, Yoshi and Luigi with their super-high jumps are close behind, Pichu and Syaoran are under them with super acrobatic skills, and Zelda, last but not least, uses her magic to levitate herself up.
Once the whole group congregates again about 40 feet up, Luigi makes the foolish but smart move of looking down. "Uhh...guys-a...IT'S-A STILL RISING-A!!"
Indeed, the lava continues to go up and up and up, yet...there is no place for the heroes to continue going up and up and up.
Yoshi looks around nervously. "Now what do we do?" he says in a worried tone.
Tails ponders. "Um, panic maybe?"
There is general agreement among the group, so they start running around in aimless circles screaming.
While running around, Amy comments, "This is getting kinda boring...and I'm tired...can we stop now?"
*Yeah, I don't get why we're doing this anyway. Besides, I think the lava is stopping.* Syaoran replies.
The group stops to notice that the lava has risen almost to the platform's height, but comes to a stop about 1 foot below it.
Zelda nods. "We're safe for now...just don't fall off."
"Right, another disaster averted." Tails sighs with relief. "But isn't that the cue for another one to begin?"
"Piiiii chuchu pichu pi! (Shh, you'll jinx it!)"
Amy looks at a notice board stuck in the middle of the platforms. "Hey! A poster!"
The group gathers around the board, reading the notice.
'WANTED: Group of adventurers charged with the following crimes:
Miles Prower: Overly good machine-building skill.
Amy Rose: First-degree Sonic fangirlism.
Syaoran Li: Unauthorized having a girlfriend.
Yoshi: Illegal oversize appetite.
Princess Zelda: Being kidnapped without a damsel-in-distress license.
Pichu: Caught with a large stash of electricity.
Jigglypuff: Singing without a "William Hung" rank license.
They are presumed extremely dangerous and may be carrying weapons.
Wanted dead or alive. Big reward, etc. etc. etc.'
"That is the dumbest thing I have ever read." Tails remarks.
Syaoran agrees. *It has to be fake.*
"Obviously." Amy reasons. "I mean, come on, no one said there was anything wrong with adoring Sonikku!"
*Well, yeah, that and the fact it's signed 'Bowser' at the bottom.*
"Ah, always a clue." Yoshi laughs.
BLAM! A plasma shot screams through the air and slices a clean hole through Tails's picture on the notice board.
Jigglypuff mutters without turning around, "Jigggg puffpuff jiggly? (Uhh...what was that?).
*Probably someone trying to take us down.*
"But they can't believe this is real!" Zelda shouts.
A voice behind them drones in a robotic-sounding tone, "Well, if you're a bounty hunter, nothing really matters, does it?"
