Phi Sigma Pi is an honorary fraternity whose three ideals are Leadership, Fellowship, and Scholarship. You can find out more about that if you click on the link to the left, though. ;)
I joined Phi Sigma Pi during my fall semester 2003. The previous year, I'd pledged to a sorority (which will remain nameless, unless I feel mischievous), and my entire 4-week initiation period was miserable. There was no real hazing, but it was obvious that the girls didn't get along with each other, and they didn't make much of an effort to get to know the pledges, either. I quit the week I would have been initiated.
So anyway, I was curious about Phi Sigma Pi, but I was afraid of jumping into something that might turn out like the sorority had. Initiation was 6 weeks, and yeah, there were some points where we all just wanted to quit, but I really don't regret a moment of it. These guys (and gals!) are like my second family, and I think this is the sort of fellowship that social Greeks pretend to have. It's not that everyone gets along all the time, but they're a lot more genuine than those sorority girls were! So the moral of the story is, if you have a Phi Sigma Pi chapter on your campus and you qualify, I urge you to join! You'll never meet a greater gang of people!
And with that said, go click on some links. ;)
