ssshhhhhh.

hanging over my head
bound and gagged, the flag waves
Im pushed against the floor, my face is sore, from
trying not to scream, resurrect -- dream myself into
their consciousness, because I am the fantasy, lingering
like steam over coffee in the mourning the days ablaze

unaware of their warning to me, keep my mouth
shut, a tighten grimace leaks out of my lips, as I sip
from conversation, my teeth pressed tight together
cracking from the weather of constant storms and stops
between, removing the tape, swallowing hints of hate
prejudice, discrimination by state, cant open my mouth

cant open my mouth, to breathe, the plastic is sucked
into my lungs, ducked tape wreathes round my neck
while the morning broadcast drools, rape myself daily
while standing on my soul pushed against the floor, to
salute the flag that soars
hanging over my head.
