| This is an effort to create an user interest group, in India, (later extend it to the Asian region...an ASUG!!)for perhaps the most versatile and easiest application development language : THE SMALLTALK The simplest programming language to grasp and get going with, has multiple forms available with varied targets and comfort factor they offer to the users. Best of all they are right now many Non-commercial full Editions available for the true computer nerds. In words borrowed: "Do not pick up Smalltalk. You will soon be addicted to it. You will scarcely like working on another language till you are de-hooked." This is so easy that even a school kid could make his applications within a month probably if his IQ is average...!! What more can one say about its complexity, flexibility and all that it covers if I were to just point out that world's Guru's of Object Oriented Programming are the best votaries of this wonderful language. Come let us all together build up a circle to make application development absolute fun and devoid of the labrynth the Mico$oft environments offer..!!..Talk of .NET, Smalltalk is the motivator for .NET concept of true platform independence. Mac borrowed the UI concept of windows from SmallTalk. MS Windows started ages later. Smalltalk is not just a language and in its many forms of VisualWorks, Smalltalk MT , Self, VisualAge etc offers probably an independent system that compiles the code to any of the OSes, to many processors. Guess, one can go endlessly on what it is.. but spread the word around and let it take roots in every young mind should be the final goal. Let Smalltalk be THE LANGUAGE of the century ahead...! |
