A simple run through of what me and Malachi do in our spare time. He really enjoys the time we spend together, when we are learning something new, or doing something constructive together as one. All games can be fun and educational, just depends how much time you are willing to put into it. Here are some ideas.
* We play bank where he serves me as both an unhappy customer and a nice customer. I show him different situations and ways of dealing with different types of people. Mainly for fun.
* On a walk we talk about different objects or the colours of the different vehicles going past. Maybe even count them.
* We go through the names of people from our immediate family so he knows who his family is, one by one, and by name.
* When cleaning up toys he counts them when packing them away and goes through the many different colours of the toys.
* I know that driving is further down the track but I want my son to know the safety side of this situation for both himself and his passengers. So because I can't teach him in a car doesn't mean I can't teach him about it. By using his imagination he makes sure that himself and his passengers are buckled in before going on an imaginary journey.
* The clothes/dress up game. This is to show him how to tell you have your clothes on the right way and different and funny ways of dressing. He still needs help with putting his shoes on the right feet. I get him to put them aside together the right way around, so when he comes back he can just slip them on with no worries.
* We watch kids educational shows together and focus on whats going on around in the background as well as what is being said. I think it would teach them to focus and encourage multifunctional tasks? I don't know. Also helps them to see the bigger picture.
* He loves to do some dancing and singing. Good to include exercise. '30 minutes a day...you got to push PLAY'
* Touching up on hand and eye coordination by kicking, catching and throwing a ball around.
* Hide N Seek teaches them to use their eyes. Finding different numbers and colors where you are can be educational.
