Victorian home and gardening
We're interested in creating a simple but colorful Victorian landscape in our city yard.
We live in a central Massachusetts city in a "recovering" neighborhood.
We want to re-create a slice of historic beauty on our street and inspire our neighbours to do the same with their homes.

We are about to start some inside remodeling, staying in line with the period architecture and in the Spring will continue with the garden restoration.

We hope to construct a simple field stone retaining wall in a neglected corner and plant shade loving shrubs to conceal a stockade fence and provide privacy.

We are interested in sharing battle stories in the adventure to date and very interested in hearing your stories of planting successes and failures.

We dug a large vegetable patch ready for the Spring and alternately, a large ornamental tulip garden for a colorful reprise from the grey of Winter. Hopefully the bulbs will surrvive the squirrels - and we have to find a better fright toy than the plastic owl who sits on guard. They think he's a friend! Any suggestions welcomed.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Zinnias from the flower  garden - we had great luck with Zinnias this year, even tho we planted late.  They love full sun and water at the roots, but not on the petals and foliage if you can help it..  This is a view from the kitchen window.
