Hello, salaam, hola, ciao, bonjour, kalimera, zdravo, ay-jay, konichiwa...

(I think that should cover it)

I decided to put my site back up in an effort to do what little I can to "Be the change [I] wish to see in the world."

"Most surely man is in a state of loss, except those who have faith, do righteous deeds and (join together) in the mutual teaching of truth, patience and constancy." Holy Quran (103:2-3)

I want us all to remember what we were doing on December 26, 2004, while deadly waves struck coast after coast.

I want us to praise God for sparing us from such devastation

I want us to pray for those who've died.

More importantly, let us pray for those who are still living among ruins at the brink of starvation and disease.

For the orphans who wake up screaming that the wave is coming.

For the parents who grieve for the loss of their babies.

I want us to imagine losing all the people we hold dear.

Not knowing if they've survived.

Wondering if they will receive a proper burial.

Knowing that they probably won't.

I want us to imagine losing all our worldly possessions without a moment's notice.

Not just our homes and cars--our whole towns. These satellite photos speak for themselves.

If we can afford to, let us donate generously. If we cannot, let us remember that our prayers are needed just as badly.
