The Beginning...
He was told that he was born 18 years ago that day exactly 18 years ago. After all it was his birthday. But he was in no mood of celebrating. He was in a totally different mood. Dont know what he was reading those days but it was definitely far from the normal. He was told that he was 18 now and this was the beginning of a new era for him in his life.
Beginning! The word struck him like a hammer. He was already deeply penetrating over the matter when his father, in a pretty merry mood, threw the word onto him. He even asked him to get himself photographed for his NIC and, not to mention, the driving license. Just to give a boom to his blue son, he even juggled the car keys in front of him, hoping for some anticipation from him, but none. He seemed to be in a total trance.
He quickly gobbled down the remains of his breakfast and went back to his bedroom. He was not going to the university, anyway. Closing the door behind him, he quickly analyzed all his life behind him. What exactly was his beginning?
Eighteen years ago he was born. A new life was created and a soul and body together were born unto the world. Was that the start? Had his real life started then, as a creature at the mercy of all around him? It was the start, but was it the beginning? He was even confusing himself!
Two days onward and he is named and given his very first toys. A name maybe totally trivial to us but it is a major deal! The original significance can only be understood to those people who name things that dont have names in the lives of normal people. Like the men who name their cars just because they love them. And then the students who name their pens! And of course we do name our pets, dont we? Anyway, a name is totally significant thing! So was it the beginning? It was the inauguration but not the beginning! Maybe the gears were starting to move together!
Four months and he moves onto cereal, starts saying things such as Goo and Gaa, crawls a bit and spins a bit. Not much? Ask the parents. They note each little progress! But is this the beginning of his life? It may be an investiture because he was able to do something onto his own at least, but definitely not the beginning!
A year and something, and he is walking. He can do a lot by himself now. Get all his toys all around him. Ask for the things he wants and mommy dear doesnt have to guess it herself. But how would this be defined? An initialization, but not the beginning!
Never know how time passes so quickly but it really does. His first day at school! He is really able now, as compared to his early days. He looks back at that day with a great zeal wonder. Sheer excitement and fear are fighting each other in the little fast beating heart of his. After all that was the start to his academic career. The beginning to his academic career all right, but what about his life? It may be termed laying down of a foundation but not the beginning no!
Years pass by and he moves out of school to college and from college to university. Different events pass by his mind like a brainstorm. From his first crush to his first heartbreak, from his first academic success to his first class record. From the rising of the moon to the setting of the sun. All his life was right in front of him. But nothing was there that could be declared a beginning. All he could do was sit there shaking his head in disapproval. His lips formed a satirical smile as he gazed his figure in the mirror right in front of him. Will his life never begin? His thoughts concentrated onto the single matter. And voila! He was going to get a beginning!
Two days on. The poor father cries as he has just laid his very own soul six feet below in a grave. A fast friend tries to comfort him by telling him that this is the beginning of his afterlife, the real life. That was it, after all! The beginning!
