The learning styles that I think I am weakest in are definitely Visual Learning and Logical/Mathematical learning. I have always liked to draw and do art, but as for activities like puzzles? Forget it; frankly, I have never understood people who spend weeks trying to cram eight hundred pieces of a Jackson Pollack jigsaw puzzle together. Also, I like to plan things out on paper, instead of visualizing an idea. Although I am not quite as useless at Logical Learning, the world of mathematics has never exactly been my cup of tea. It has always taken me longer to truly understand theories in math than in any other subject. I admit that there have been times when I enjoy math though, like when I finally figure out a hard problem or equation. However, those *eureka* moments are (unfortunately) few and far between.
Although my strongest learning type is probably interpersonal, I think I might also be a linguistic learner, because I like to read, and I usually would rather write a paper than take a test. Although I can remember quiz facts fairly easily (at least for a short period of time) I am able to remember information much more easily (and for a longer period of time) if I have written a paper on them. For some things however, (such as a complicated lab procedure) I need to see how they should be done, in order to fully understand them. Because of this, I might be a kinesthetic learner in certain situations.
Probably Not:
Ever since I was younger, I have thought of myself as a person who worked best in small groups, so I am most likely an interpersonal learner. After all, working with others allows me to bounce ideas off of other people, and think of the goal or problem with a different perspective than my own. I also find projects much more interesting and fun when I am cooperating with others, instead of just working alone in a corner somewhere. Usually in school, when teachers assign group projects, they expect a presentation on the subject. I have never minded being part of a group presentation; in fact, sometimes I really enjoy giving presentations. When I was younger, I would get nervous when I had to speak in front of a large group by myself, but if I was with others, I was much more relaxed. After all, I could blame it on somebody else if I screwed up. (Just kidding!!) Now that Im in high school, I dont mind speaking in public by myself; but often presentations are generally more appealing to both the audience and the presenters if there it is a group effort.
