| Radiation is the progression of energy through space. Electromagnetic radiation occurs when energy waves travel through space; and can take the form of X rays, light, radiation, microwaves, gamma rays, and radio waves. The difference between these different tpes is the amount of energy found in the photons. The amount of energy in the photons results in different waveslengths adn frequencies, which also affects the spectra colors. Radiation from billions of years ago is still present due to it's ability to self-regeneration, and so travels through space until it being absorbed into matter. Theoretically, if the universe is infinite, radiation will continue moving through space forever. This does not mean that all radiation reaches Eatth's sea level, though. Several types of radiation, including microwave radiation, are obsorbed into Earth's atmosphere, making it necessary for scientists to send their observation devises to higher altitudes. |

| Why 300,000 Years After the BB, and Not 299,999? | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay, 300,000 years is an aproximation, but something really did happen right after the BB that is the source of CBR. Immediately after the Big Bang, the extreme heat caused there to be virtually no difference between radiation and matter: atoms were unable to form, because when electrons tried to attach to a nucleus or proton, some rogue photon would crash into the attempted formation, breaking the structure. However, after a quick three hundred millenniums, the universe had cooled down to a chilly 3,000 Kelvin. After this cooling, protons and electrons were able to bond, and form neutral hydrogen; leaving photons free to explore the universe for roughly a million years (a time known as recombination), unhindered by the other sluggish subatomic particles. These photons traveled in every direction possible, which explains the consistency of Cosmic Background Radiation. Over the years, the wavelengths of the photons were stretched to longer microwaves, due to the universe expanding. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
