5 MINUTES (written on the fly and edited later)



5 minutes of silence. 5 minutes of utter silence.

But I will ask something first.

Is it so necessary to suppress our spirits
     for 5 precious minutes, when...

Very soon, we will
     plunge into 5 millenia,
     5 eons, of eternal silence?

Every man has his time to die.

Therefore, every man must live to the fullest,
     knowing that each moment could be his last.

For such a man true to his passions,
     there can be no such thing as
     5 minutes of nothingness.

The world can change in 5 minutes.
     The two atomic bombs dropped on
     Japan 60 years ago, for example.
Those changed the world forever.

In my 5 minutes,
     I will talk with my friends.
     I will write poems such as these.
     I will play and listen to music.
     I will holler for all the world to hear!

...But I will not let it go to waste, in silence.
