Telgar Weyr Snow Festival, Part One

You walk past the lintel and into the wide living cavern.

Telgar Weyr's Living Cavern(#750RDJM$)

This huge cavern is sufficiently roomy to hold a large portion of the Weyr's population without feeling cramped. There's always a bustle of activity here. Fragrant dishes are constantly in prepartion for mealtimes: currently for the evening meal. Drudges are always present, either cleaning under Pierron's watchful eye, or helping fetch and carry. A myriad of glowbaskets and many ever-lit hearths make the cavern warm and inviting despite its size. The scents of cooking meats, baking breads and pastries, and the pungent aroma of spices hang mouthwateringly in the air. It is little wonder that those seeking to relax nearly always find their way here to do it. The tables are decorated with a multitude of bright spring flowers.

A short tunnel jaunts northward out to the bowl and the merry sounds of cooking, chores, and laughter echo from the kitchen at the southeast end of the cavern near the easterly passage to the rest of the lower caverns. Within the lower caverns is an entrance to the infirmary weyr to care for injured dragons and riders.

Loren turns from chatting with Tarlo and glances to the bowl entrance. He waves across the room to her, from his seat near the kitchens.

Annik walks in at a brisk pace, smiling as she catches sight of the other Smiths. "Nice and cold out there," she comments as she moves closer. "Everything seems to be set up and ready to go."

Loren sets his mug down and rises, pulling out a chair for the craftmaster. "Good thing Ageenothree doesn't freeze easily. I think I nearly froze last night."

Annik shrugs as she sits down. "It's not that much colder up here than what we usually have at the Hall during winter. I don't mind it, anyway."

Talbak looks up and nods to Annik, "Master Annik," he says, smiling and sipping his klah.

Annik nods back to the apprentice. "Hi, Talbak. What did you think of the trip up here?"

Talbak grins, "Long," he says, "And slow." he adds as an afterthought, looking around. "They should of build the Weyr closer to the hall..."

Tarlo having been called into the lower caverns makes it back up, seeing to the last of the dishes. She walks back over to the smiths inquiring, "Is everything alright? Warmed up, then?"

Annik chuckles at Talbak. "Oh, sure, you know how many big empty mountains there are lying around," she jokes. She nods to Tarlo. "Yes, I'm fine, thanks."

Public announcement: Tarlo announces "Come one, come all to the first part of Telgar's Snow Festival! @tel #750 to the Telgar Living Cavern and join us for a feast!"

Yashira walks in from the bowl.

Yashira has arrived.

Talbak grins and nods, "Yeh, just my point..." He says, looking around and nodding to Tarlo.

Jarven walks here from the Inner Cavern.

Jarven has arrived.

Yashira makes her way into the living cavern, glancing about the cavern with apparent interest.

Kalandra walks in from the bowl.

Kalandra has arrived.

Kalandra walks in, followed by several other apprentices, all loaded with packs. "Harper duties to Telgar and her queens." she greets. "Is Journeyman Faramen about?" she asks, setting her pack down at a nearby table and directing the others to do the same.

Belzior has arrived.

Tarlo admits, "I haven't seen him." she admits. "Hopefully he'll be making an appearance shortly.

Loren stands and leans over to murmer to Annik. "I need to tend my runner. Be back in a bit."

Loren walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.

Loren has left.

Annik nods at Loren and lifts her hand in casual wave.

"Telgar's Duties," greets the pregnant rider. Yashira eyes the serving tables with increasing interest, placing one hand on her bulging belly.

Talbak nods to Loren, then looks around at the sudden influx of people, looking at Annik, "Did you hear a bell or something?" He asks, grinning.

Tarlo smiles to Kalandra. "And Telgar's duties to Harper Hall." she says. "Sorry if I'm a bit flustered."

Belzior recognizes Kalandra, and walks over to talk to her.

Annik glances around at the incoming crowd and shrugs at Talbak. "Must be time to eat," she replies with a grin.

Kalandra smiles and nods to Yashira and Tarlo. "It's ok, ma'am. Just have the supplies he asked for."

Tarlo tilts her head. "Have you permissions to perform?" she inquires of Kalandra.

Talbak nods to Annik, standing quickly and looking around, not recognising anyone apart from Annik.

Yashira smiles a little, and begins to move through the crowd toward Craftmaster Annik - and Talbak, as well. "Annik!" she calls.

Annik turns as she hears her name. "Oh, Yashira, hi!" she says with a smile as she spots the brownrider. "Good to see you."

Kalandra grins and nods to Tarlo. "Yes, ma'am. I was told that I could sing tonight, if Journeyman Faramen approved."

Talbak here's Annik's name being yelled and quickly looking around see who's speaking, just curious. He looks at Yashira, recognising her face, but not her...bulk.

"Good to see you, too," Yashira tells Annik. She nods to Talbak as well. "And to you... Senior Apprentice? I remember, you set off fireworks at the festival. I said I wanted Annik to visit Telgar Weyr sometime so we could feed her, since she's always feeding me over at Smithcraft."

T'lean walks in from the bowl.

T'lean has arrived.

Kalandra steps closer towards Tarlo, so she doesn't have to yell over the noise of the crowd. As she stops before Tarlo, she gives the rider a smile. "I'm Kalandra. Apprentice Harper."

Belzior tries not to interrupt Kalandra in her conversation, and decides just to wave at her. He makes his way over to the serving tables.

Talbak grins at Yashira, "Talbak." He says, smiling, "Yes, I remember seeing your face..." He says.

Kalandra smiles as she catches a glance of Belzior through the crowd and waves.

"...Though it must have been considerably less pregnant and puffy then," Yashira remarks, dryly, to Talbak.

Annik chuckles at Yashira and nods. "Yeah, that's right, you did want me to come here and eat. Well, here I am, and it looks like there'll be plenty to eat tonight."

T'lean walks in and takes a seat towards the back after pouring himself of cup of klah

Talbak nods, "Yes Ma'am." He says, grinning, then looking around the room with some interest.

Appetizers:

Crackers and dip: Thin, crispy crackers are arranged on a plate, surrounding three small white bowls that contain various dips. In the first is a pale yellow cheese dip, mellow in flavor and sprinkled with a garnish of chopped chives. Next to that is an olive spread, made with a mixture of green and black olives and a hint of garlic for flavor. Lastly is the most colorful of the three - a festive salsa, there for those who prefer stronger, spicier flavors.

Cheese and Mushroom Triangles: Delicate puff pastry has been shaped into thin triangles, and baked to a pale golden brown. Melted cheese and a mixture of finely chopped mushrooms and herbs reside between the light, flaky layers of the triangles.

Soup/Salad:

Noodle Salad: Short, tightly twisted noodles make up the body of this salad, which rests in a solid forest green ceramic bowl. A light dressing of wine vinegar, oil, and flavorful herbs thinly covers everything, adding a tangy flavor to the mellow noodles. Chopped up bits of fingerroots, celery and shredded greens hide among the noodles as well, adding variety to the salad.

Squash Soup: This soup bears an even orange color, only the light sprinkling of chopped chives over the top interrupting the shade. Made mainly from squash and ginger, this creamy dish carries a taste gentle on the tongue, with the lingering flavor of ginger and a faint hint of orange.

Main Dishes:

Spicy Citrus Glazed Wherry: Wherry pieces have been marinated in rosemary, and are topped by a spicy, citrus glaze that contains a mix of garlic, onion and pepper and is strong enough to be worth a mild warning to those who aren't partial to spice. The wherry is served with a bit of fruity relish on the side, some sweet to take the edge off the heat of the glaze.

Yellowtail Steaks: Yellowtail steaks rest on a bed of greens and acidic vinaigrette, tender hot on crisply cool, served with a chill, sweet white wine. The firm fleshed fish from Pern's seas has been saturated in a marinade of whiteroots and white wine, seasoned with a bit of tarragon.

Desserts:

Blueberry Bars: Small bars of a light, creamy color fill this platter, each one drizzled with dark, blue-purple berry sauce. The bars are smooth and creamy with that gentle taste unique to cheesecake, and beneath the top layer of cheesecake is a layer of sweet blueberry, resting on the thin, crumbly crust. A blueberry compote is available in a side bowl to top the bars if one so wishes.

Jam Cookies: Smooth, buttery cookies are a pale golden-yellow, made in a variety of shapes, ranging from the ordinary circle, to ovals, to more decorative triangles and hearts. But one thing they all share in common is a thumb-sized depression in the center, which is filled with sweet, jewel-toned berry jam.

Pierron puffs with pride as Kalandra gives him the chance to demonstrate his skill.

Pierron chops off a hunk of Fort's finest Cheddar with a huge knife and gives it to Kalandra.

Pierron puffs with pride as Kalandra gives him the chance to demonstrate his skill.

Tarlo seems contented once food begins to circulate, drudges and a few of the older children circulating with bowls and trays, as well as layouts on the tables.

Knives fly and bowls clatter as Pierron charges through the kitchen, preparing Kalandra's mushroom. Finally, he returns, and gives it to her, saying "There you go. I make it especial for you."

Annik snaps her fingers suddenly. "Oh, there's something I forgot to do in the tent. I'll be back soon," she says, standing and hurrying outside.

"Excellent timing," Yashira says, nodding. She glances out toward the bowl. "I hope you do some good business here during the festival." She waves to Annik a little as the woman departs.

You walk down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.

Talbak looks at Jarven and grins, "I do now you just told me," he says, smiling. Offering his hand to the stablehand.

Kiitarel has left.

Kuroyi nods, "Yeah all that swaying and stuff just make me fall right out.. Uh oh, there's Annik," he murmurs to Talbak quietly.

Jarven wipes his hand on his trousers out of habit. He accepts Talbak's hand, "Well met. This yer first trip to Telgar?"

T'lean nods, "I see. Duzorth was more the toss snow everywhere and demolish forts and such"

Jorinn walks in from the bowl.

Jorinn has arrived.

Mirrari walks towards the inner cavern.

Mirrari has left.

Tarlo grins. "Well, hopefully he'll contain himself? Wouldn't want to ruin everyone's hard work." she looks to the new arrivals, offering "Telgar's duties!"

Annik comes back in, quickly spotting both apprentices and giving them a smile. "So how's the food?" she asks.

Talbak grins, shaking Jarvens hand, "Yes, sir." He says, glancing at Kuroyi, "That's Kuroyi," he says, pointing his hand over his shoulder then smiling at Annik and nodding to her.

Jorinn walks to the serving table, half-filling a plate. He scans the crowd for someone he recognizes, obviously in search of someone.

Kuroyi glances at Talbak, eyebrows raised before shrugging at Annik with a grin. "I don't know, Ma'am. I just got in here myself from the tent. It smells pretty good though."

"Well met, Kuroyi. Hmmn. You probably don't want to be introduced to old K'zin, he's really very boring. Uhh..." Yashira peers about intently. Must. Introduce!

Mita walks in from the bowl.

Mita has arrived.

Korynn walks in from the bowl.

Korynn has arrived.

Annik chuckles and nods in agreement with Kuroyi. "Yeah, it certainly does. I'll have to find myself a plate and fill it up."

Kalandra hands the guitar back to the apprentice, who plays it just how she did. She gives a nod and smiles. "Exactly. But don't forget to time the influx right." she says before lowering her voiice again and continuing the discussion.

Jorinn recognizes Kally from a past visit to HRW, but still seems to be looking for someone.

Jarven grimaces as the crowd seems to be growing. He smiles weakly at Yashira, "Have fun. This crowd's startin' t'get to me." The stablehand nods to the Smiths. "Nice to meetcha." That being said, he hurries deeper into the caverns.

Jarven walks towards the inner cavern.

Jarven has left.

T'lean hmmms, "I'll have to think of something to bribe him with so he won't sulk"

Talbak grins at Annik and Kuroyi, "They have /real/ klah, master." He says, smiling, then nods to Jarven and Yashira.

Kuroyi nods to Yashira, his eyes glancing down at her enlarged stomach a brief moment. "Well met, and Smithcraft's duties to Telgar and her queens, ma'am."

Yashira waves to Jarven, then shifts her weight from foot to foot. Her forehead wrinkles. "'Scuse me. Telgar's Duties to Smithcraft!" she waves a little, then waddles off.

Yashira walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.

Yashira has left.

Annik raises her eyebrows at Talbak. "Real klah? How do you mean?"

Tarlo smirks to T'lean. "We could always have Cariath have a talk with him." she looks over to Annik, smiling warmly. "Telgar's duties, Mastersmith. We're really looking forward to your presentation tomorrow night."

Talbak smiles, "Not sludge," he says, grinning, "Actual klah that's a drink and not a food..."

T'lean chuckles, "True, Tarlo, she could get him not to do it, but the key is so we won't sulk about it."

Kalandra looks up from her discussion, taking a breather, and spots another apprentice. "Korynn. Glad you made it." she says, standing and waving from the table in the corner where she sits with several other apprentices.

Annik looks over at Tarlo and smiles. "And Smithcraft's duties to you. Our best chemists spend quite some time working on it, so we're all looking forward to seeing it, as well." Glancing back at Talbak, she shrugs. "Oh, we've got some of that back at the Hall."

Desh walks in from the bowl.

Desh has arrived.

Jorinn presses himself through the crowd to Kalandra. "I'm not sure if you remember me," he says to Kalandra, "I'm Jorinn." Not sure if that's enough information, he adds, "from High Reaches Weyr."

Talbak looks shocked, "We /have/?" He asks, glancing around, "Just in the masters lounge?"

Korynn ambles in with a few small boxes, which he promptly hands over to a drudge. With a second thought, he takes them back. "I'll just give them to Journeyman Faramen, myself." He makes his way over to his fellow apprentice. "How are the instruments sounding, Kalandra?"

Tarlo grins. "Sometimes you can't escaple it." she confides to T'lean. "At times, they're a bit like children." she notes indulgently.

Annik grins and shakes her head at Talbak. "No, I hate sludge. I drink the liquid stuff all the time."

T'lean nods a bit shaking his head, "Aye, that they are, but Duzorth is a about a 40 year old child though."

Desh makes his way into the cavern, shiving a little as he steps out of the cold. There's a rueful expression on his face.

"You do?" Talbak enquires, "But...whenever I'm in the lounge it's sludge..." He says, glancing around and noticing Desh, grinning at him.

Tarlo grins. "Age matters?" she teases, calling to the new arrival, "Telgar's duties! Help yourself to some food, and come warm up!"

Kalandra turns to look at Jorinn and smiles. "Hello, Jorinn." she says with a nods. "How have things been, sir." she asks. At Korynn's question, she turns and rolls her eyes. "The instruments are good, Korynn. Though I'll admit, we probably could have done with a bit more practice." she says.

Kuroyi turns and sees Desh, offering his friend a wave, "Hey!! Long time since i've seen you!

T'lean says "Well, I've put up with enough dragon sulking so it's always good to avoid more"

T'lean gives a little wink to Tarlo

"Smithcraft's Duties," Desh calls to Tarlo. He nods to her politely and gravely, though his lips quirk up when he spots the other Smiths. He lopes toward them, waving. "Talbak, Kuroyi, Annik! How are you all?"

Jorinn shakes his head, a bit exasperated, "Well I seem to have lost a few littles. They said they would be in here for the Festival. They're a bit rowdy, so I'm sure I'd have seen them if they're here."

Annik nods emphatically. "Yeah, I do. There should always be some liquid stuff in the lounge, and if there's not, go ahead and tell the --" She breaks off as she notices Desh. "Desh! It's good to see you!"

Kalandra grins. "Oh, you mean 'Drea and her sister Kii?" she asks with a light chuckle.

Tarlo chuckles, rising and moving to help herself as well. She seems pleased by the turnout of the banquet.

Talbak waves his hand for Annik to continue, this is important, he grins at Desh, "Good evening, Desh. How's Igen?" He asks.

Jorinn nods, "That's them. And a boy named Lux, too."

Annik continues for Talbak, "Oh, tell one of cooks, and they'll make some. They know how I like it."

Desh comes to a halt by the other Smiths, lips quirking up a little further at the corners. He seems to be in high spirirs. "Unmercifully hot, and very different from Telgar. Surprisingly interesting, as well. Journeyman Isli has been taking good care of me, and Igen Weyr has been very welcoming."

Kalandra nods and looks around. "Last time I saw them, they were sitting in the corner eating cookies and ice cream. Maybe then went outside. There was mention of making snowmen and they got excited." she says, turning back to Jorinn.

Belzior grins, remembering the antics of the littles, "They were quite the trio. Last I saw, they were having dessert."

Talbak nods at Annik, smiling at her, "Good...no more sludge..." He says, then looks at Desh, "Well, at least you won't need a forge, Desh." He says, grinning.

Desh's forehead wrinkles a moment, and then he nods. "Ah, yes. All the metal is half-melted already, so I simply prod it into the shape I want. How are you, Kuroyi? You're right, it has been a long time."

T'lean hmmms, "Maybe I can actually get Duzorth to socialize with the other dragons so he's distracted long enough to not want to go after the snow forts"

Jorinn glances around the room again, hoping to catch a glimpse of the littles, if they are still inside. They could be right outside, and how much trouble could you /really/ get into in a Weyr?

Tarlo moves through the crowd, checking to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves.

Korynn plops down beside Kalandra and reaches for one of the instrument cases when he spies a familiar Smith apprentice. "Kuroyi! We've nearly fininished your-" He cuts off abruptly as he eyes the other Smiths. "It's not a secret project, is it?" he asks in lower tones.

Annik chuckles at Desh. "I'm glad to hear that you're getting along well. I've heard nothing but good things of your work there," she says with an enigmatic smile.

Talbak grins, "Easy job..." he murmers, smiling, then looking around, "Have you seen Niobe today Kuroyi?" He asks, glacning between Annik and Desh to see if they have. He smiles at the craftmaster then goes to looking around the living cavern.

Kuroyi shakes his head, "It's not a secret," he says with a grin.

Belzior nudges Kalandra, as he has not yet met this friend of hers.

Korynn edges a little closer to Kuroyi. "I think Alria was showing hers to Master Shirana the other day. I haven't heard what she thinks yet."

Kalandra turns to Korynn and smiles. "You playing anything tonight, Korynn?" she asks. As she is nudged by Belzior, she turns and grins. "Oh, sorry, Belz. This is Korynn, senior apprentice at the hall. And this other fine looking gentelman is Jorinn. I met him when I delivered some supplies to the harper posted at Reaches." she says, indicating the two new arrivals at the table.

Desh shakes his head at Talbak a little, then blinks at Annik. "Really?" He sounds quite surprised. He nods politely to the Harper Apprentice speaking to Kuroyi.

"Oh, hiya Korynn, Jorinn. Well met," Belzior says as they are introduced.

Belzior adds, "I'm Belzior."

Kuroyi nods, "So is it getting close to getting done? I still need my box part from the woodcraft hall, it's been hard getting it all together, honestly."

Jorinn turns back to the Harpers at the mention of his name, and greets Belzior. "So, who all is performing here tonight?"

Annik nods, still with that mysterious smile. "Yep. So, Desh, will you be staying for the whole festival?"

Korynn nods courteously to Belzior. "Well met. Are you here with Kally?" He turns to his fellow Harper, "I hadn't planned on it. I'm more here for posterity," he adds with a grin. To Kuroyi, he says, "Most of the tines are finished. We don't want to give them to you until Master Shirana approves them, though."

Talbak glances around again, "I think I'll go help whoever's in the tent..." He says, "Give them a chance to warm up a bit - since I'm not hungry." He adds, smiling, then moving out towards the bowl.

"I think so," Desh says, nodding. "I thought perhaps my friend Riane would be about, though I have not seen her. And I will work in the tent a little, too." He waves to Talbak as the other apprentice departs.

Kalandra grins at Korynn before nodding to Jorinn. "Yea. I might perform." she says.

Talbak walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.

Talbak has left.

Belzior looks over at Korynn, "Well, it's my first Festival as a Harper, since I just arrived at the Hall the other day. I'm here for the learning, and for support, that's all."

Jorinn smiles to Kally, "Sounds good. I'm sure it beats delivering Archives to Reaches."

Mita looks up, overhearing Belzior's comment. "Did you say you're a new Harper?" she askes. "I'm on my way to the Hall myself."

Kuroyi nods, "I hope you can get some credit for the work at the Harper hall, I know that Jaiya will be getting credit for the box part with Woodcraft.

Kalandra chuckles and gives a light shrug. "Well, that depends on who's around when I deliver them." she says smiling at Jorinn.

Annik nods at Desh. "Good. It'd be nice for a lot of us to be around for our fireworks presentation tomorrow night. It should be quite a show." She pauses briefly and adds, "As always."

Jorinn admits to Kally, "I really can't stay too long. I'm hoping to stick around long enough to hear you sing, then I have to get back to Tillek."

Korynn perks up at the mention of fireworks. "How late will the show start?" he inquires.

"I look forward to seeing it," Desh says, quite seriously, to Annik. He glances over at Korynn, lips quirking a little.

Belziors eyes begin to sparkle anew at the mention of fireworks. He listens intently for the answer to Korynn's question.

Kalandra smiles at Jorinn and nods. "Thanks." she says. "I appreciate the support."

Kuroyi idles over to Desh, grinning at the apprentice. "So what's it like at Igen? Is it really as hot as they say? Even in winter?"

Annik looks over at Korynn. "I'm not sure - I still have to get the exact details on that. But it's supposed to be the finale, so I'd say whenever everything else is done."

Korynn nods, apparently satisfied with that answer. He turns his attention on Mita. "Did I hear you say that you were on your way to the Hall?"

"Very hot," Desh informs Kuroyi. "It is so hot there, even in winter, that no one can work during the afternoon. The work is done in the morning and at night. I have taken to wandering about in short pants, a sleeveless shirt, and sandals. And swimming, often. Incredibly hot, like a forge, even."

Kuroyi whistles. "Wow. That's pretty shardin hot. What do you do in the afternoons then?"

Annik grimaces as she listens to Desh's description. "Yeah, I've been to Igen Weyr a few times, but I could never stay there long. I can't stand that kind of heat unless it's from a forge."

Kuroyi says "Oh hey Desh, did you hear, I've decided to go with Architecture as my chosen field of study. What do you think, interested in a Kuroyi designed cothold?" he asks with a teasing grin. "I can start planning it right now.""

"Sleep," Desh supplies. "You sleep, or swim, or lounge about. And drink lots of water and juice, or else you dry out." He glances toward the bowl entrance. "It is so strange to be back here in the cold and snow."

Korynn laughs at Desh's comment on the snow. "I'd forgotten how cold it gets here! I should probably visit home since I'm here." The last is more a statement to himself.

Jorinn glances about the room every now and again, just to make sure the littles haven't entered without his noticing them, as if /they/ could sneak in.

Kuroyi chuckles. "I think I prefer the snow. I have never really been anywyhere that it's just hot all the time."

Belzior pipes up for one quick blurt, "I like Keroon's tempature, fine."

Annik smiles and glances in the vague direction of the bowl. "I love it up here. I don't know what I'd do without snow in the winter."

Mita grins at Korynn and nods, going to take a seat near the Harper apprentices. "I'm from Balen Hold - our journeyman sent me to apply to be an apprentice."

Tarlo returns from yet again assisting with making sure everyone's comfortable, looking to see if anyone needs her.

Kuroyi asks Belzior, "It snows during winter there, right?"

Korynn nods. "Which journeyman is assigned to your riding?" he asks with interest.

Desh nods to Korynn. "Isn't it cold by Fort? I am Senior Apprentice Desh of Smithcraft, by the way. Well met. Actually... they did have a little ice in Igen just recently. There was a gathering of sorts, with ice cream makers."

Tarlo speaks with a few drudges, and they begin to clear a space for the harpers, making it obvious that a performance will occur shortly.

Jorinn notices the Jr Headwoman wandering, and makes his way over to her, "G'evening, Ma'am. Festival seems to be going well. I can't wait to hear what the Harpers have for us," and winks slightly in Kalandra's direction. "I'm Jorinn, here on a quick rest from Tillek," he says

"Well met, Desh. I'm Korynn, Senior Apprentice to the Harper Hall. Fort gets snow, but it doesn't compare to the winter here."

Kalandra finishes her discussion with a few of the apprentices, finally satisfied with her recent progress. She turns back to those near her, noticing the clearing of space for the harpers.

Belzior nods, "But it's not cold /all/ the time," then he adds with a grin," or hot /all/ the time."

Tarlo calls out, "Kalandra? Whenever you and the others feel inclined to set up." she gestures.

Kuroyi grins, "SOunds perfect to me. I'm Kuroyi, an apprentice at the Smithcraft hall," he introduces himself.

Korynn excuses himself from the table and gets up to assist the other apprentices in setting up. "Who is directing tonight, Kalandra?"

Kalandra smiles at Jorinn before turning to Tarlo and nods. "Yes, ma'am." she says and directs the apprentices that arrived with her to begin setting things up on the makeshift stage.

Desh glances about, murmuring, "Quite a few apprentices out here tonight, hmmn? Well met, Korynn."

Annik watches as the Harpers begin to set up. "Ooh, looks like some entertainment soon."

Tarlo takes a seat, leaning back to enjoy. She casts Annik a grin. "We don't get nearly enough music here, so it's going to be lovely."

Annik nods at Tarlo. "I know what you mean. I wish we had more Harpers around Smithcraft."

Belzior moves himself, as to distance himself from the performing Harpers.

Mita cocks her head to one side. "Tikam. Tall guy, black hair...?"

Kalandra looks at Korynn as he comes over to help set up and tilts her chin towards the tall man by the table where she was sitting. "Journeyman Lyren came over with us, though I thought Faramen was going to direct tonight." she says.

Annik sits down to watch quietly.

"Tikam," Korynn muses. "I think I know him." He shakes his head, "Ah well, I'll remember eventually." The apprentice frowns at Kalandra's statement. "I was sure Journeyman Faramen was going to be here. He's probably gotten tied up elsewhere."

Desh nods to Annik, looking toward the Harpers setting up.

Kalandra nods as she finishes up setting up what she was working on. She straightens up and moves to the side.

Belzior watches the other Harpers intently, taking in everything that he can, and attempting to store it in his brain.

Tarlo looks attentively to the harpers, awaiting their performance eagerly.

Kuroyi moves to join Annik at the table, curiously watching.

Korynn steps back from the area and winks at Kalandra. "Put on a good show for Telgar. They deserve it." He edges past a junior apprentice and takes a nearby seat.

Kalandra grins and takes a deep breath. She looks around the room before stepping up onto the stage.

Jorinn winks at Kally, and gives her a 'thumbs-up' gesture.

When the winds die down,

And the night is still.

When the horizon becomes hazy

With silver-white Thread.

The riders will come

And lay their lives down,

For life they were chosen

And the land that they live.

The music continues its soft, smooth melody, her voice rising and falling as she continues.

 They will protect the land

And all the lives that live,

Till the last silver Thread

Is burnt and dead.

They live their lives

In old, dead volcanoes.

They live their lives

With the ones who chose them.

They come and choose,

One and only one.

The dragons choose,

Their partners for life.

Mirrari walks here from the Inner Cavern.

Mirrari has arrived.

The cavern is quiet, except for the harpers as a performance goes on.

The music's beat picks up a bit while Kalandra goes silent to allow the music to continue. After several measures, she begins to sing the final verse.

 Together they are,

A fighting pair.

Always fighting,

For the entire Weyr.

This is the life,

Of the dragon pair.

Joined forever,

To live their lives in a weyr.

The music fades off till it is but a single echoing note. Kalandra stands slowly from her stool and bows deeply to her audience, smiling at the riders.

Tarlo is perhaps the first, or at least one of the first to clap, smiling and nodding her pleasure.

Kuroyi claps along with others, grinning.

Korynn applauds from his place near the stage, a proud grin upon his lips.

Belzior claps quickly, a huge smile covering his face.

Kuroyi excuses himself, "I need to get back t othe smith tent, Thank you for the lovely music."

Kuroyi walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.

Kuroyi has left.

Jorinn grins, applauding the performance.

Mita applauds loudly with the others, smiling at the harper.

Kalandra smiles and bows again before stepping off to allow another harper to begin.

Annik applauds, smiling.

Desh applauds politely.

Jorinn walks up to Kally, "That was great," he smiles.

Annik stands quietly and murmurs, "I'm going to check on how things are going in the tent," before walking toward the bowl.

You walk down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.
