Smith Dining Hall
As you step into this large room, rows upon rows of tables first greet you. The scars and spots in the wood and the benches distinguish them as apprentice benches, victims to younsters' curiosity about their first blades. Farther into the hall are groups of round tables with chairs, journeymen tables it would seem and finally across the top of the room sits one long table. The master's table is on a slightly raised dais, no doubt to allow the masters to keep a better eye on the apprentices during the meal. A swinging door near the apprentice tables gives a glimpse into the bustling kitchen.
A large metal door to the west leads out to the main meadow.
Contents:
Malan
Argothe
Obvious exits:
Kitchens Main Meadow
Argothe gestures towards the apprentices tables, Have a seat Malan.
Malan nods as he heads over to sit down, "Evening."
You sit down at the journeyman tables.
Argothe mumbles someting to himself and shuffles through sone notes, "Evening Malan, Annik.", he says with a smile.
Annik smiles, "Evening."
Loren comes out from the kitchen, leaving the doors swinging.
Loren has arrived.
Malan grins at Loren and waves to him.
Krysta comes out from the kitchen, leaving the doors swinging.
Krysta has arrived.
Lokee comes out from the kitchen, leaving the doors swinging.
Lokee has arrived.
Lokee sets his tray on the small table Krysta indicated.
Krysta steps out of the kitchen with a covered tray. She quietly sets it onto a small table then lifts the cover to add a serving spoon to the side of the tray.
Loren nods to the apprentices as he makes his way to the journeyman's table. "No pranks." he mouthes.
Lokee smiles at Krysta. "If you don't need me to bring out anymore, I'll just be seated."
Malan chuckles and tries to look innocent.
Argothe nods a greeting to those comming in from the kitchen and cranes his neck trying to get a look at the contents of the serving trays, "Evening Loren."
Wen comes in from the main meadow.
Wen has arrived.
Lokee nods to the Masters, journeymen, and apprentices before taking his seat at the junior apprentice table.
Krysta smiles her thanks to Lokee. "I'll just get the soup bowl then it will be all taken care of. Thank you once again Lokee."
Krysta pushes through the swinging doors leading into the kitchens.
Krysta has left.
Lokee nods back to Krysta from the table. "You're welcome, Krysta."
Wen sits down at the master's table.
Krysta comes out from the kitchen, leaving the doors swinging.
Krysta has arrived.
Loren pages to Annik, Argothe, Krysta, Lokee, Malan, and Wen: There's a large appentice table.. and certain areas reserved for Jrs, Full and Sr., so you get to change places, but not walk the tables.
Malan sits down at the apprentice tables.
Lokee looks around the table from the junior apprentice section.
Argothe nods to Wen as she takes her seat, "Evening Wen. How have /they/,",he gestures towards the apprentices tables,"been behaving lately?", he asks with a smile.
Krysta returns adding a large bowl with the other trays. She steps back quietly waiting to assist anyone should there be a need.
Malan fiddles with the setting at his place, frequently looking between the empty place next to him and the door.
Wen nods back to Argothe. "Good evening. /They/ have mostly been well behaved, though there is a small group who always make trouble."
Malan tries to act like he doesn't hear the Masters' conversation, though his expression is especially innocent.
Lokee blushes a little and suddenly finds his spoon very interesting.
Argothe nods again and chuckles, "There always is. They're punishments serve as an example to the rest as why the should behave.", he says with a grin.
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Eek!"
Eolan comes in from the main meadow.
Eolan has arrived.
Smithcraft> Lokee says, "And 'eek' to you, Eolan. :>"
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Lost all track of time watching the Hatching."
Argothe looks over towards the door as someone slips in from the meadow.
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Exactly why I didn't want the meeting during the Hatching."
Eolan looks as freshly washed as he can after his hurried bath. He nods to the Craftmaster, then hurriedly takes his seat, mumbling apologies.
Wen nods and glances briefly at the apprentice table. "Yes, and I've made sure to give the other apprentices good examples."
Lokee looks up at the ceiling to watch a gossamer spinner, looking nonchalant.
Malan grins down the table in Lokee's direction.
Smithcraft> Annik drops a pin...
Lokee notices Malan's grin, and lets loose a single laugh. He quickly cups his mouth and looks around, his face turning bright red.
Smithcraft> Lokee isn't on Sprint, so he didn't hear the pin...
Eolan runs a hand through his wet hair, then nudges Lokee with an elbow, rolling his eyes, "Shhh."
A drudge picks the appetizer tray and begins walking between the tables offering the Fungi caps.
Smithcraft> Annik isn't on Sprint either. It was just so quiet I thought it was the perfect time to drop the pin. :)
Argothe looks towards the apprentice tables frowning slightly at the sound of a single laugh comming from somewhere.
Malan watches the food with a slightly worried expression, his gaze frequently drawn to the door.
Lokee starts hiccupping from suppressing his laugh, and quickly grabs his glass of water, which spills slightly from Eolan's nudge.
Smithcraft> Lokee grins. "I know...just thought I'd be humorous and see if anyone remembers those commercials... ;>"
Annik stares at the fungi caps for a moment before taking a small one. She sets it on her plate, stares at it some more, then starts to poke at it with her fork.
Krysta picks up the large bowl and offers to laddle out the chilled cucumber soup as she approches each table quietly.
Lokee whispers to Eolan, "Careful...spill..."
Loren grins and waves the drudge to put more on his plate. "Mmmm... fungi caps!"
Argothe's frown deepens a bit as the comotion continues down at one end of the apprentices table. He snags several of the fungi cap from the drudge tending the masters table.
Lokee hesitantly takes a fungi cap from the drudge serving the apprentice table, sniffs it, then takes a second, setting both on his plate before actually sampling one.
Malan eats absently, his attention on other things.
Eolan stabs his fork through a fungi cap and pops it into his mouth, glancing over at Lokee with a smirk.
Krysta quickly nods to another drudge then smiles as she dashes into the kitchen only to return moments later with a cloth. With swift movements the spill is cleaned up and she departs.
Argothe spears one of the fungi caps with his fork and gobbles it down. He takes some of the soupe when Krysta passes his table.
Loren munches on the fungi caps with obvious relish, looking at the apprentice table with an occasional scowl and then a grin, depending on who his gaze alights on.
Annik uses her fork to pull her fungi cap apart, letting the fillings spill out. After staring at it again, she finally takes a small bite.
Lokee smiles his thanks to the drudge for cleaning up the spill, then uses his fork to try a bite of the fungi cap, as another drudge spoons out some of the soup for him. His eyes light up as he tastes the fungus.
Krysta fills bowls as she makes her way from the masters table to the jouneyman's table then on to the others, before returning the soup to the serving stand allowing the first course to be sampled.
Eolan glances down the table, then back up at the Masters. He finally grins at Krysta as he's served some soup, offering to the girl, "Thank you."
Loren polishes off his fungi caps and looks about for more. "You going to eat that?" he murmers to Annik.
Argothe finishes off his 'caps' then starts in on his soup.
Annik declines the soup and goes back to dissecting her fungi cap. She nods at Loren. "Yes... When I'm done studying it." She begins to slowly munch on the bivalves.
Lokee takes a spoonful of the soup, and starts to blow on it...then realizes it's cold. He looks around, wondering if anyone else has noticed, then shrugs and eats the spoonful.
Lokee's eyes widen as the soup touches his tongue. He looks down at it, then leans over to Eolan and whispers, "...want...?
Loren sighs and looks for others to mooch from. A green looking glasswork Journeyman willingly offers his serving.
Wen takes modest portions and takes her time, eating neatly.
Malan eats his soup neatly, not really paying much attention to it.
Eolan looks at Lokee curiously, then nods, "Sure." He takes the bowl of soup from the other Apprentice, now with two in front of him.
Lokee smiles, glances up to make sure no one saw, then munches on the fungi caps.
Loren finishes these off then starts on his soup. "Hmmm... quite tasty... I like the coolness. In this summer heat, it's quite refreshing."
Eolan finishes the first bowl of soup, p8ushng it aside to begin on the second bowl so kindly provided by Lokee.
Krysta nods to the drudges one again and they begin to set the plates of noodles and wherry breasts before the smiths as Krysta serves the head table herself. Mindful of those still enjoying thier meal.
Annik separates each ingredient into its own little pile. Mushroom here, bivalves there, and onions over there. Suddenly the appetizer is forgotten as the main course it set in front of her.
Argothe finishes up his soup just in time for the noodles and wherry. "Thanks you Krysta.", he says with a smile when she fills his plats.
Lokee pops the last bite of the fungi cap into his mouth as the wherry and noodles are placed before him. He smiles broadly as the scent reaches his nose, then sighs contentedly as he cuts into the meat.
Loren grins. "Now this is more like it!" he sets his nearly empty bowl aside and spears a few of the breasts for his plate then ladles a large amount of noodles over them.
Annik shoves the rest of her fungi cap away and begins to inhale the wherry and noodles.
Malan plays idly with the meat and noodles, shoving them around his plate.
Lokee whispers down to Malan. "Cheer up...she probably just got tied up with something. She'll be here." He gives Malan a wink and a grin.
Wen cuts her wherry breast into bite-sized cubes before eating them one at a time.
Malan looks at Lokee for a moment, then at the door.
Loren nudges Annik. "You just didn't want me to have them, did you?" he whispers.
Krysta returns to the serving stand and sets down her tray. Picking up a wineskin she once again moves between tables offering to fill glasses here and there.
Lokee finally tastes the wherry...and he sits up straighter, glances over to Krysta, and winks his thanks to her. Through a mouthful of food, he says to Eolan, "Oh, thith ith good!"
Annik blinks and swallows her mouthful of food. "What? The fungi? I was eating it," she replies indignantly.
Eolan smirks, shaking his head back and forth, "It's all good, Lokee, it's all good." He shovels a fork full of noodles into his mouth.
Argothe sticks his fork into the wherry and lifts the whole thing to his mouth taking a bite. He smiles as he chews it down with odvious relish then continues to eat his wherry off the end of his fork.
Loren grins, knowingly, and resumes his attention to the wonderfully flavorful repast.
Wen pauses bringing a forkful of noodles to her mouth and looks at Lokee. She gives a little shake of her head and continues eating.
Lokee takes in Wen's shake of her head, and becomes more quiet.
Krysta wispers to the drudges to bing in dessert once she returns to the serving stand, clearing a tray to make room for the final dish.
Loren pages to Annik, Argothe, and Wen: I'm still a little groggy from the hatching.
Annik glances at Argothe and grins, muttering something to Loren.
Annik mutters to Loren, "... be... a... our..."
You whisper "Wen must be having a hard time with our Craftmaster's manners." to Loren.
Smithcraft> Tanon ooohs... 9 smiths. Not bad atall.
Smithcraft> Argothe says, "Meeting..the dinner started an hour ago...."
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Better come and get it before it's gone."
Smithcraft> Loren says, "We saved a big bowl of stuffed fingi caps for ya. ;)"
Smithcraft> Tanon grins. "Oooh... thanks, Loren." ;)
Tanon comes out from the kitchen, leaving the doors swinging.
Tanon has arrived.
Annik quickly finishes her wherry and noodles, then looks sadly at her empty plate.
Krysta quickly sends the drudges out among the tables with small dishes of the redfruit cobbler, while she turns her attention back towards the head table. Setting out the dessert and clearing away the empty plates.
From out the main meadow, Tanon comes, murmuring softly something about drills, as he makes to sit toward the back, quietly.
Loren sighs and sits back a little further from the table... to make room for more? "Mmm... that was glorious." He grins as the cobbler is doled out. "This looks like the perfect finale, Krysta. Thank you and the other cooks. "
Smithcraft> Lokee says, "Argothe...can I borrow that lag-b-gone?"
Eolan finishes the wherry and noodles, his plate is whisked away and he's suddenly faced with dessert. Dessert? He rubs his stomach and looks over at Lokee, "Shouldn't have eaten that extra bowl of soup."
Lokee grins at Eolan. "I didn't /force/ it on you."
Wen politely refuses the cobbler and instead quietly sips her wine.
Argothe finishes the wherry and finishes about half of his noodles when he sees the redfruit cobbler heading his way. He slides his plate back, "Thanks Krysta the prefect end to a wonderful meal", he says accepting the cobbles.
Eolan pushes the cobbler plate to Lokee, "Here, you take my dessert. Even trade for the soup."
Smithcraft> Argothe hands Loren his lag beating stick instead. ;)
Malan takes some notice of the cobbler as he eats it.
Annik grins as she is served cobbler. "Mmmm. Looks great."
Smithcraft> Argothe says, "Hands Lokee that is...;)"
Smithcraft> Lokee grins. "Hey, it worked...so far. :>"
Smithcraft> Coelle waves.
Lokee begins eating his cobbler, accepting Eolan's sacrifice gravely. "Are you sure? I don't think it was quite an even swap..."
Smithcraft> Annik waves, "Hi Coelle."
Krysta blushes as she nods to Argothe. "I'm glad your enjoying it sir." She carries the soiled dishes into the kitchen then returns.
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Coelle! Dinner!"
Eolan smirks, "Couldn't eat another bite. You take it."
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Or dessert."
Smithcraft> Argothe waves back, "'ello there." ;)
Smithcraft> Coelle is waving from the Land of Packing Evilness. Ick.
Smithcraft> Loren cleaned out two truckloads of junk today. :)
Lokee smiles his thanks to Eolan, finishing his first dessert, then attacking the second
Smithcraft> Argothe has been packing for the past month and has much sympathy. ;)
Smithcraft> Coelle left it all until the last minute. Not smart.
Smithcraft> Coelle says, "The van comes Monday. Where did I get all this stuff?"
Loren finally pushes his plate away, only crumbs left. "Mmmm... I think I'll sleep well tonight."
Annik's cobbler is gone almost as fast as her wherry and noodles. She busily scrapes the bowl completely clean with her spoon.
Lokee sighs in contentment, then burps. "Oops.." He looks around, hoping one of the other apprentices will be blamed.
Argothe devouers his cobbler in two of three bites, then leans back with a sigh.
Smithcraft> Annik says, "It magically appears to make moving that much more difficult."
Smithcraft> Coelle is trying to play this character more often, but darn it all if life doesn't keep trying to prevent it.
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Stuff likes to breed in the closet when you're not looking, becoming more and more stuff."
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Like rabbits. It just multiplies."
Smithcraft> Coelle noticed the closet effect. But I think my books hatched sequels. :)
Smithcraft> Argothe says, "Don't forget the attic...stuff really likes the attic. More books is a good thing, at least I think so ;)"
Taking a small piece of cobler as it is offered, Tanon eats at it quietly, remaining quite silent.
Smithcraft> Coelle likes to read them, not haul boxes of them.
Wen gives Lokee a quick, stern glance.
The drudges step forward and begin clearing the tables. Soon they become clear and soft talking is heard coming from the kitchen along with a few clanging dishes.
Lokee withers under Wen's glance, but quickly recovers. He looks around the room, taking count of how many smiths there are.
Loren looks around, mostly to the apprentice tables.
Smithcraft> Annik thanks Krysta for the wonderful dinner! :)
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Yes! It was great Krysta. :)"
Smithcraft> Krysta was most happy to supply it.
Smithcraft> Argothe says, "Yea what she said , Thanky you very much Krysta. ;)"
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Yeah, thanks Krysta! I'm going to sneak into the kitchens later for the leftover cobbler!"
Smithcraft> Coelle says, "The menu looks yummy."
Smithcraft> Malan says, "What makes you think there'll be leftovers?"
Smithcraft> Loren thwacks Eolan.. RHIP!
Smithcraft> Lokee says, "Absolutely wonderful. ;>"
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "RHIP?"
Smithcraft> Argothe in turn thwacks Loren, that it does ;)
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Yeah! Quit smackin the apprentices! We're small, defenseless, weak. *cough*"
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Oww! .. Rank Hath It's Priveliges."
Smithcraft> Argothe chuckles. ;)
Loren sips his wine and smiles, very content.
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "ASULAAS?"
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Apprentices Stay Up Late And Are Sneaky? :)"
Smithcraft> Annik quietly steals all the leftover cobbler during all this thwacking.
Smithcraft> Krysta laughs.
Smithcraft> Loren doesn't know how to take take that... See what you did? Now we don't get any. :)
Smithcraft> Eolan darns! :)
Smithcraft> Lokee notes that Krysta still owes him a treat, since /he/ was the only one who helped her...so maybe he'll get some of the leftover cobbler she undoubtedly has hidden in the kitchen. :>
Smithcraft> Krysta sets off so you can commence with your meeting. "Thanks for the RP." :)
Smithcraft> Lokee waves to Krysta.
Smithcraft> Annik waves, "Thanks again Krysta."
Krysta heads off into the kitchens to supervise the clean up work.
Krysta pushes through the swinging doors leading into the kitchens.
Krysta has left.
Smithcraft> Eolan gahs and has to go in about 30 minutes.
Malan sits back, sipping at his wine. His worried look grows deeper.
Eolan glances across the table at Malan, raising a curious eyebrow at his fellow apprentice.
Smithcraft> Lokee says, "Be vewwy vewwy quiet..."
Argothe takes a sip of his wine as he scans the room.
Smithcraft> Annik says, "We're making everybody wait just to be annoying. :)"
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "I knew it was something like that :)"
Smithcraft> Lokee laughs.
Smithcraft> Argothe grins, "Hey thats a good idea..can we do it some more?" ;)
Smithcraft> Eolan starts to play the jepordy tune.
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Hey, we aren't done being annoying yet! :)"
Smithcraft> Malan didn't think Masters were ever done being annoying :)
Smithcraft> Annik reminds Malan that Annik and Loren aren't Masters. We're annoying anyway, though. :)
Smithcraft> Malan chuckles, "You're both in training for it... :)
Smithcraft> Tanon stands on his head. And stops before Annik can push him over.
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Yeah... we're brown nosing for it... GOOMH!"
Smithcraft> Annik sniffs, "Fine, I won't push you over."
Argothe nudges Wen and nods.
Smithcraft> Annik doesn't need training to be annoying.
Smithcraft> Malan exerts a massive effort of will not to comment on that...
Smithcraft> Loren thinks of 'Dumb and Dumber' and the most annoying sound.
Lokee takes a sip of his wine, contemplating his peers.
Wen looks passively in the direction of the apprentice table. "Apprentice Malan, please come here."
Smithcraft> Annik is curious now!
Malan blinks, then stands and walks up to the Master table, "Yes, Ma'am?"
Wen hands Malan something and whispers to him.
Smithcraft> Loren says, "I'll look for a wav of it."
Smithcraft> Annik says, "No, I've seen Dumb and Dumber. I was talking about Malan."
Malan nods to Wen, his face carefully expressionless, then walks back to the apprentice table. He walks past his place, holding something in his hand.
Malan stops behind Lokee and taps him on the shoulder, "Please stand up."
Tanon yawns gently, despite himself, eyes focusing upon the exchanges, seeming interested.
Lokee looks up in surprise at Malan. "Huh?" He rises unsteadily. "Did I do something wrong?" He glances about the room, then looks back at Malan.
Loren smiles and studies the other apprentices.
Eolan watches with an odd grin on his face, his eyebrows raised curiously.
Malan looks sternly at Lokee, "I think you need to find another place to sit in the future. You'd best come sit with us, as is befitting your new knot." He extends his hand with the Full Apprentice knot in it that Wen gave him.
Malan grins suddenly.
Annik grins at Lokee as he receives his new knot.
Lokee's face breaks into a grin. "Uh..." He stares silently at the knot in Malan's hand for a long moment before reaching out and taking it. "Thank you," he breathes, looking back up at Malan.
Eolan applauds, "Great work, Lokee!"
Malan chuckles, "Congratulations, and welcome to the ranks."
Loren grins. "Well done."
"Congradulations Lokee.", Argothe says with a smile.
Tanon claps softly, but remains still quiet, though a smile lights upon his face.
Lokee smiles down at Eolan, then takes a deep breath. "Thank you, everyone," he manages.
Malan gestures for Lokee to proceed with him to his section of the apprentice table.
Eolan smirks lopsidedly and grins at his now standing friend.
Wen nods at Lokee. "Congratulations, Apprentice."
Lokee takes another breath, then turns and walks towards the full apprentice section of the table, smiling idiotically at everyone as he walks along. Suddenly, he trips, but catches himself and turns red as he finds an empty chair and sits.
Malan returns to his own seat, chuckling a bit.
Wen looks over at Loren. "Journeyman Loren, please come up here."
Loren stands now and turns to face Master Wen. "Yes ma'am?"
Lokee silently removes the knot of his junior apprenticeship and replaces it with the full apprentice knot handed to him by Malan.
Wen whispers something to Loren.
Lokee grins down to Eolan, face still red but smiling happily.
Eolan leans forward to give Lokee a thumbs up sign.
Loren nods, flashing a smile, then turns back around all serious now. "Hmmm. I agree. It's still not quite right." He walks over to the apprentices and strolls along eyeing each in turn.
Lokee turns to watch Loren, wondering who he will honor.
Eolan follows Lokee's gaze and watches Loren as well, eyebrows still raised curiously.
Tanon, of course still in the back, folds his arms over his chest, head cocked to one side, blinking.
Malan watches Loren with idle curiosity.
Loren stops, eventually. "Eolan... you're sitting in the wrong spot. Follow me... oh, and here." He hands Eolan a Sr. Apprentice Knot. "You'll be sitting over there from now on." He points then walks over to the Sr. Apprentice end of the table.
Eolan rises to follow, then stops, and takes the knot with a wide grin, "Thank you!" He walks around to the end of the table, sparing an excited thumbs up this time for Lokee.
Lokee grins and returns Eolan's thumbs up sign.
Argothe smiles, "Good job Eolan."
Annik smiles, "Congrats Eolan."
Malan grins at Eolan, "Congrats."
Loren nods. "Keep up the good work." then he takes his own chair again.
Eolan flops into his chair, taking a moment to concentrate on upgrading his
shoulder knot before paying attention to the others again with a grin.
Wen peruses the room until she finds who she's looking for. "Sr. Apprentice Tanon."
Tanon claps, once again, softly, for Eolan... and as his name is called, he blinks, looking up. "Yes, Apprenticemaster?" he asks, cocking his head to the other side.
Wen looks slightly annoyed. "Please come up here."
Tanon shrugs slightly, standing, and walking over to Wen, as asked. "Yes?" he inquires, blinking a few times.
Smithcraft> Tanon hrmms.
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Pain makes man think. Thought makes man wise. Wisdom"
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Pain makes man think. Thought makes man wise. Wisdom
makes life endurable."
Smithcraft> Lokee says, "'Wisdom'? Shouldn't that be 'Whiskey'? *grin*"
Tanon blinks, twice, at that, before nodding. "As you wish," he replies, simply, headed toward Malan this time. "Here you go, Malan," he offers, with a smile, holding out a nice new Sr. Apprentice knot.
Malan blinks then stands with a smile, "Thank you." He moves to the Sr Apprentice section and looks for a seat."
Lokee claps for Malan and Eolan, smiling broadly.
Smithcraft> Eolan says, "Okay, I have to head out for the night! Thanks for the nifty new knot!"
Smithcraft> Lokee waves. "Night, Eolan!"
Smithcraft> Tanon waves to Eolan. "Congrats." :)
Smithcraft> Annik says, "Night Eolan."
Loren grins and claps too.
Smithcraft> Argothe says, "Congrats Eolan, no prob. ;)"
Annik smiles, "Congrats Malan."
Smithcraft> Loren says, "Good night Eolan."
Smithcraft> Tanon wows.. some people I no longer get to pick on. Darn. ;)
Malan grins, acknowledging everyone's attention.
Argothe grins, "Keep up to good work Malan."
Malan smiles at Argothe, "Thank you, sir."
Eolan has disconnected.
Tanon moves back to his original seat, sitting down again, quietly.
Argothe lights the OOC lamp and flops down on his beanbag chair, pulling out the oreos. ;)
Malan gets ready to duck :)
Annik gets out a mountain of pillows. "Oooooooh, oreos!"
Loren sits in a dark corner with a winsome lass and a keg of stout. "Bring it on!"
Malan is entirely sick of oreos :)
Argothe says "You don't get any Annik, since you stole all the cobbler. ;)"
Malan says "She can have mine..."
Annik grins, "Only one lass, Loren?"
Lokee kicks back and puts his feet up on the table.
Loren nods. "Wouldn't be fair to the other smiths. "
Annik whimpers... For a moment. "I have oreos IRL anyway." *thpppbt at Argothe*
Argothe says "Annik's got some information about an obj that you all might find usefull You're up Annik. ;)"
Annik says "Okay, first of all... Some of you may know this, but there's an object in the AMO called S.A.D. for Smith Apprentice Database. It has all the new requirements."
Annik flings a BIG pillow at Argothe.
Annik says "And a list of the apps and their ranks."
Argothe catches the pillow with his face then tosses it in Lorens general direction. ;)
Tanon says "New requirements for what?"
Annik mwahahahas. "Promotion."
Annik says "It's in +lhelp too, but that's later."
Annik passes the 'It's My Turn to Speak' pillow to Wen.
Wen says "A while ago, I put up a +bbpost about need info for my App records. Only a few people have gotten back to me, and I thank them. I would really appreciate it if those who haven't yet (you know who you are) would do that soon."
Loren says "Including me... I dunno if I can recall all the info.. I have a zillion logs...."
Wen grins at Loren. "That's why you dig it all out, go over it, and compile it into a +mail."
Wen says "Please +mail me, because I won't be able to remember all of this. :)"
Wen is done and therefore tosses the pillow into the air.
Loren oofs as the pillow falls on him.
Tanon gets out his fireworks for target practice. Darn, too late.
Argothe tossed an oreo at Tannon. ;)
Annik heys! "No hurting the pillow!"
Loren says "Ok... how are we doing? Is being a smith still fun for you? Would you like to do some other things? If so, let us know."
Tanon owch's! as the oreo hits him in the nose ;)
Malan says "I think y'all are doing great."
Lokee has been having a great time, and now that he's promoted, plans to have even more fun. :>
Loren says "Ok.. thanks. We're all pretty new to this and may be doing things different from what used to be done at the hall... we done have the advantage of that experience... and I think it bothers some of the longtime smiths. ... I don't know how we can do things like in the 'old days'."
Malan shrugs, "What does it matter, as long as what you're doing now works?
Annik wonders WHY we would do thinks like the old days??
Tanon didn't like the old days. The old days sucked, because he was the only active Smith, before Loren joined up.
Annik grins at Loren. "Must I remind you what the old days were like?"
Lokee is just too young to remember the 'old days'. *grin*
Loren says "It's that bothering of the longtime smiths... I feel like I owe them... for the hall and the heritage/legacy we have. I'm not talking so much of a year ago but three and four years ago."
Malan says "I think what we do is as important as to be around and doing it."
Malan says "err isn't as important."
Annik wasn't around back then.
Malan says "There are smiths still around from that long ago?"
Loren says "Yeah... in one guise or another."
Malan hmms, "It seems to me if they're not still contributing to the Craft, then they have no business complaining.
Tanon hmmms... "Actually, Loren... you might talk to Jerika. She was a CM once, you know."
Annik smiles, "We are repaying them. We're making the hall active again."
Argothe stays quiet and munches some beer and drinks some oreos.
Loren says "I hope so... I'd like to attract them back... I had a chat with Jerika some time ago... she said she's having trouble identifying with a character that's grown to twice her RL age."
Annik eeewws. Liquid oreos?
Tanon notes, however, that while Jerika might not like playing Jerika anymore, she was still a good CM, he was told when he joined up.
Lokee laughs. "It's not much easier relating to one that's half your RL age. :>"
Malan chuckles, "Yes it is. At least you were that age once :)
Lokee grins. "Eons ago. :> But, yeah, I can see your point."
Loren nods. "I still like Jerika's player... she's had some RL changes that's kept her from getting online until recently... but now she's even more out of touch with us... I'd like to help there, but don't even know where to begin.
Tanon hmmms. "Well, what about Thos? Wyn, maybe? I bet that Encil might be able to help out some..."
Tanon could talk to Selina's player, perhaps.
Annik thinks Wyn is gone...
Annik says "Someone should talk to Margret, though. They knew each other IRL... I think."
Malan says "What is it we're looking for from them? It seems to me we have an active Craft that's doing all right."
Tanon notes that Wyn's e-mail is on her +email.
Loren grins. "I've talked to all of them. Wyn isn't coming back. Encil is too old ICly, he says. Ok.. well, if we spread a good enough table, maybe we can attract them back?
Annik says "That's for the old Smith webpage. If the page isn't kept up, I doubt she checks the e-mail."
Tanon notes that she also has a personal page... she might keep that one up.
Annik says "We don't care if Encil is too old! :)"
Loren says "Well, he does apparently. I've chatted a few times with him and he's adamant he super retired."
Annik says "We should do something just for the old Masters."
Annik awws, "He's fun to RP with."
Tanon thought so too.
Loren says "Hey... that sounds like a good idea. ... a sort of reunion? Or would that just be bringing up a long series of comparisons of then and now?"
Tanon thinks it would cause the latter.
Lokee says "So what exactly /is/ different between now and then? Are we better or worse than the old days? Or does it depend upon who you talk to?"
Annik hmmms... A recognition ceremony?
Annik says "For all their hard work."
Malan says "I'm sure it depends on who you talk to, Lokee."
Annik says "It depends on which old days you're talking about."
Malan says "I sure wouldn't want to change the Craft around to suit people who no longer RP here. I'd rather we make it to suit ourselves."
Lokee says "So if we're not even sure what old days we're talking about, why concern ourselves about them? Isn't the here-and-now and the future more important? I don't mean we should forget the past, but we can't relive it."
Lokee says "Nor would we want to, I'm sure."
Argothe says "Maybe if we got everyone together in some RP the old members might like us newer ones enough to come back. That's what I'm trying to do Malan. ;)"
Argothe says "Make the hall for us that is. ;)"
Annik says "Well, there's the recent old days, which were BAD, and the old old days, which I was never here for."
Malan says "The recent old days were bad?"
Loren says "Ok... what do we like to do? I mean I sometimes like to RP a smith doing his mundane stuff, as conon as posible ... some of my most satisfying RP has been one-on-one teaching too."
Annik says "They were almost non-existant, Malan. I like to torment appies and... No, wait. I like to umm..."
Lokee grins. "Mundane RP sounds great, as well as one-on-one RP. When I first joined, I was very rusty at RP'ing, and a little unsure of what I was doing (that last part hasn't changed much), but I'm much more comfortable with it now, and would love to RP an actual mentor-student role.
Lokee says "Oops...one-on-one teaching RP"
Loren says "Funny you should ask. We've been working on a mentoring program... Annik? It's mostly your baby." He tosses the pillow to her."
Malan thinks about it, "Some actual classes might be nice, where it was advertised and anyone who wants could come."
Annik catches the pillow. "Yep. :) Okay... While looking through the old Smith pages, I found out that we used to have a mentoring program. It must've been forgotten or something. Anyway, I really like the idea of having something like that, and so we're bringing it back."
Annik says "See +lhelp mentoring for info, or go to the old Smith pages at angelfire."
Annik says "The mentoring program lets every apprentice have someone specific who they can go to for coding/descing help, any questions, and can be used in RP."
Tanon sits in Annik's lap, just 'cause it's hard to resist ;) And then puts a nice snowball on top of her head. "I've got a question..."
Annik says "Yes Tanon?" *Pours snow down the back of his shirt*
Tanon grins, resisting the urge to comment. "Uhm, if we were to re-adopt this program... would it be based on rank, or... what? Ie. Would the Apprentices ask the Sr. Apps, and the Jr. Apps ask the Apps, or... how would it work?"
Annik says "And as seen in +lhelp mentors, Argothe, Loren, and I are currently the only mentors until some other Jmen/Masters join in."
Annik says "Jmen and Masters can be mentors for any apprentice, no matter what level. Apps don't mentor Apps."
Tanon hms. Interesting.
Annik says "And if they want, Jmen can have a Master mentor them."
Annik says "Any other questions?"
Malan says "I presume getting a mentor is optional?"
Loren nods. "That's what is says in the '+lhelp mentoring' :)
Annik says "It's for whoever wants it."
Argothe says "Being a mentor is also optional for J'man and masters, we don't want to force it on anyone, just to make it available. ;)"
Annik nods, "Right."
Annik okays and throws the pillow to Argothe. "He can tell you about the rest of the updated +lhelp." :)
Argothe looks up just in time to have the pillow smack him in the face. ;)
Annik whoohoos! Good aim pillow! :)
Argothe says "Well we added some of the Commissions policy in there and updated the Advancment to have the new req's as well as adding the mentoring as Annik just mentioned."
Argothe Basicly while you're an Apprentice You should be talking to me Annik, Loren, Wen or your mentor if you've got one about any commissions you're asked to do. Jr's aren't allowed to accept commissions period, they can still talk to the leaders about it though.
Lokee says "So, if someone were to page us to ask if we want to take a commission, we should tell them we'll get back to them until after getting permission? Or do we go ahead and accept the commission, then talk to the masters/seconds about it?"
Smithcraft> Loren waves and heads for bed. It's been a blast! Have a good one, y'all!
Smithcraft> Lokee waves. "'Night, Loren!"
Loren goes home.
Loren enters Loren's Room.
Loren has left.
Lokee says "I'm just unclear on the wording in the +lhelp about it...maybe I'm just tired. :>"
Smithcraft> Tanon says, "Nighters, Loren!"
Annik says "You can accept it, but not necessarily for yourself. If you're a Jr. you can put up a post on the +bb and someone else will take it. What the +lhelp means is that Jr. Apps can't do any commissions."
Lokee nods. "So, if someone pages me, asks if I can accept a commission, I can tell them yes, talk to one of you guys about it, and then either I do it or it gets passed to someone more competent if it's beyond the skill of a full app? Cool. ;>"
Annik nods, "Yep, that's basically it."
Argothe says "Right, like you did with the 'snowball', which by the way Paula loved."
Lokee nods his understanding and smiles.
Argothe says "Are there any more question or comments about commissions?"
Malan doesn't have any.
Tanon doesn't either.
Argothe says "Lokee?"
Lokee grins. "Sorry, was afk a sec. Nope, none at the moment. :>"
Argothe throws the floor open for any question or comments. ;)
Annik snatches the pillow.
Malan says "Are we sending any Smiths to Boll to help there?"
Annik says "GOOMH, Malan! Yes, anybody who wants to go down there to help is welcome and encouraged to."
Malan was gonna talk to Raina about it, "She used to have ties to Boll...
Argothe acks, "Forgot about that." ;)
Lokee says "Is something happening in Boll?"
Malan says "Yep. A monsoon destroyed a lot of the Hold."
Malan says "They want help rebuilding."
Annik thinks Lokee should take a look at the general +bb. :) They need crafters to help rebuild the hold proper and Weaver hall.
Malan says "+bb/general 31"
Lokee grins. "Yeah, I need to put the general one in my @aconnect...
Lokee says "Hmm...interesting."
Annik says "We'd ICly be sending a bunch of people down there."
Argothe says "General 30 also, the weaver hall is at Boll too. ;)"
Wen doesn't think she'll be needed, so it's off to do App Mast stuff.
Lokee says "Now, that's a big TP. ;>"
Argothe waves bye to Wen
Lokee waves to Wen.
Annik says "They did one a year or two ago."
Wen heads out the large metal door to the meadow.
Wen has left.
Argothe says "I think it's a regular TP for Boll like once a year or something like that. ;)"
Lokee nods and laughs. "Sounds like a great one...and a great way to get lots of RPing in."
Annik says "So keep SBoll in mind for the next few days. :)"
Annik says "Or as long as they need our help."
Lokee nods and will definitely keep it in mind. :>
Annik says "Also, just to let everybody know, we're going to TRY to have meetings more often. Like IC/OOC meetings every 3 months and perhaps OOC meetings every month."
Tanon ooohs... that might be good.
Argothe says "Right and I don't even want to think abou thow may Admin. meetings we've been having. *throws oreos at Annik again*"
Tanon says "Such a waste of oreos, Argothe..."
Malan needs to go sleep, "See y'all later."
Tanon waves to Malan. "Congrats on the promo." :)
Argothe says "See you later Malan, congrats. ;)"
Annik throws a giant pillow at Argothe. "It's necessary and you know it!" :)
Malan grins, "Thanks."
Malan has left.
Argothe happens to be throwing an oreo when the pillow thumps into him, creating instant oreo powder. ;)
Annik ohs... Rooms. You wanna talk about that Argothe?
Lokee says "Hmm...oreo milkshake?"
Argothe blinks, "Rooms?"
Annik taptaps on Argothe's head. "Remember how we've been talking about putting in some new areas around the hall?"
"Oh /those/ rooms."Argothe says with a smile.
Tanon grins. "That's been being talked about for several years..."
Annik throws the pillow at Argothe. "Yeah... Those ones."
Argothe says "Well we already added a room for the watchrider in and we're considering a 'real' weyr in the cliff behind the hall. There have been several added since I became a smith Tanon, bathing room, business hall. We're also looking into a picnic area on top of the cliffs above where the weyr will be. Did I miss any of them? ;)"
Lokee likes the idea of the picnic area. :>
Annik says "What about the other meadow?"
Annik says "And the stables?"
Argothe says "Was that the one across the river..the stables are 'sort of' there places is configured for stalls."
Annik says "And a room for the river... But that's more of what /I/ want. :) Yes, the one across the river."
Annik says "To the south."
Tanon says "We could have a small forested area, perhaps. Those always provide some neat RP when you're in them."
Argothe says "You mean one of those auto-multi-desc rooms Tanon?"
Tanon was referring to something similar to Ista's jungle, only for a here-abouts-setting. Would imagine we'd have a forest somewhere. Uhm... what's an auto-multi-desc room?
Argothe says "Have you ever seen the riding trails at Bitra?"
Tanon hasn't, no. Tanon avoids Bitra as best he can.
Lokee laughs.
Tanon throws an oreo at Lokee.
Lokee deftly catches the oreo and gobbles it down. "Thanks, Tanon!"
Argothe says "Well we could make the meadow to the south across the river and have a trail to the weyr and another trail through some woods that ends up above the falls at a picnic area. ;)"
Annik notes that the cliff is also a place to view sunsets. It's Loren's pet project. :)
Tanon grins.
Annik says "Does anybody else have thoughts on rooms?"
Lokee doesn't think he does. :>
Tanon doesn't think so either
Annik steals the pillow. "Okay. Next thing: cross crafting. We've gotten requests in the past and probably will in the future. Right now we have someone from Woodcraft wanting to do some further training with tools. And that means we can send people there too."
Tanon thought we already had stuff set up with the Woodcraft?
Lokee has an interest in woodcraft.
Annik says "We haven't made any arrangements YET, but this is to let you know so you can be aware. I don't believe we have anything currently going on with woodcraft."
Tanon hms... guess that one is over then. 'kay.
Annik says "Which one?"
Tanon says "The one with Krystyna."
Annik nods, "Yep. That was over a long time ago." :)
Tanon figured.
Annik throws the pillow to anyone who wants it. "Unless Argothe can think of something, it's time for comments/questions/RP or TP ideas..."
Annik tells anyone reading the log that if they have any comments/questions/whatever about anything discussed during this meeting that they should +mail Argothe, Loren, and I. :)
Lokee wonders if that noise was Annik dropping a pin again...*grin*
Annik says "GOOMH! I was just thinking about doing that. :)"
Annik drops a whole box of pins.
Annik picks the box up and /empties/ it this time. :)
Lokee laughs.
Lokee says "Is Threadfall and resulting groundcrew cleanup ever TP'd/RP'd in the halls and holds?"
Annik says "Yes, but that depends on the Weyrs. They're the ones who decided where to do RP fall."
Annik says "But it HAS happened before."
Lokee nods. "Just wondering. I was thinking that would be great RP, getting all of us to go out and scour burrows. :>"
Annik sighs at her typing.
Annik grins, "It's lots of fun."
Lokee smiles. "I imagine it would be."
Tanon hmmms. "I thought that with the near-overpopulation of firelizards, we only used fairly small teams anymore to look for burrows?"
Annik says "If a lot of people want to RP doing groundcrew, then a lot of people can RP doing groundcrew."
Tanon didn't say they couldn't. He wanted to find out how accurate his belief was :P
Annik says "Oh, well I've never heard that."
Annik says "Anything else?"
Tanon wonders, "Why not do something with the miners?"
Annik ohs! "We're going to. Zanyr and Angwidd are looking for someone to play their son, who will become a Smith App to the dismay of his father."
Tanon hmms... sounds fun :)
Annik thinks our CM fell asleep, and I have to go, so unless there's anything really important, we'll call it a night.
Annik says "Anything?"
Tanon doesn't have anything
Annik says "Lokee?"
Lokee doesn't either. ;>
Annik says "Then this meeting is officially over. Thank you everyone for coming. :)"
