• At the San Lorenzo HS 50th Anniversary Celebration we learned of two other former San Lorenzo students had died in Vietnam. Both had transferred from San Lorenzo prior to graduation.

MICHAEL A. WELCH, Class of 1963. Please do not confuse with Michael L. Welch, also a SLZHS graduate. Michael L. is still alive. Michael A. left SLZHS before graduation. We have been unable to determine where he moved to. He joined the military with a home of record of Crockett, California. Inquiries to schools in the Crockett area have come up blank. If you know anything about Michael please contact us.

GERALD R. 'JERRY' HENRY, Class of 1965. Jerry transferred to Tennyson HS after his freshman year. We are still looking for anyone who may have known Jerry at Tennyson, or may know anything else about him.

• Congratulations to Carmen Gonzalez of our 2001-2002 team. Carmen is marketing student of the year for the Eden Area ROP. Thank you Carmen for all your hard work.

• We have been notified by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge that they have awarded the San Lorenzo High School Veterans Memorial Program its George Washington Honor Medal for Excellence in the schools category. This is the top award in this category and is awarded to only one school per year. Thank you to the Foundation for this special honor. Also, thanks to all the past members of the Memorial Program for all the hard work over the years. And a special thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We could not have done it without you! We hope we have brought honor and dignity to our veterans and a sense of pride to you, their families and friends. They will not be forgotten.

•  The San Lorenzo High Veterans Memorial Program is proud to announce that it has become an official partner of The Veterans History Project, a project of the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress. Members of the Veterans Memorial Program will be interviewing local veterans and then sending these interviews on the Library of Congress. Please visit the Veterans History Project website here.
