My post injury Autobiography.

The answer is simple, on June 29, 1991 I dove off a boat and hit a sand bar at the Colorado river.  The sand bar in question was under some murky water.   I could not see the sand bar, and long story short, I broke my neck at the C-5, C-6 level in my neck.  I am now attending college and am very active in school and church.  Yet there are times as many of us do ask the question why me?
Why Me?

My injure is C-5 and C-6 fracture, which means I can breath on my own and have limited use of my upper body and my hands. The C in the C-5 or C-6 means cervical in other words my neck, and the number refers to the bones that were broken. There are nine bones in the neck, so I hit near the middle and broke the fifth and sixth bones in my neck. I have had to learn to trust and rely on others for most of my care such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, washing clothes, and taking stuff out of my back pack or taking stuff off a shelf with the last two I only need help sometimes. I can eat food if cut up and put in front of me with my hand with a fork in it. I have no problem with getting the food to my mouth either. I can also brush my teeth in the same way when the stuff is set up before hand. I enjoy books still, books on tape or CD are really cool.  I try to buy both kinds the regular paper and the audio CD  when I can. Writing, drawing and how to use a computer are the three main goals of my college education. I hope to one day rule the Comic industries with my well written, well drawn comics on CD using my computer skills to make the CD accessible to all of the disabled around the world. I hope to be insightful with my writing by sharing things about myself, I hope to be dramatic with my pictures by making the action come to life, and make the CD as easy to use as possible for the many types of disabilities out there.
