Welcome-
This site is intended to update family, friends, and colleagues about Iraq, the Marines Corps, and me.

After seven months in Iraq my role shifted from Civil Affairs Officer in the 5th Civil Affairs Group to Ministry of Defense Coordinator in the Iraqi Security Forces Directorate at II Marine Expeditionary Force. I focused on  all the issues around getting a couple of Iraqi Army Divisions into the counterinsurgency fight  in Al Anbar Province -  I was very glad I was asked to fill the billet. In September 2005 I moved from Ramadi to Fallujah, and worked not only Al Anbar Province, but also Najaf, Karbala, and Babil Provinces.

Some of you may disagree with the reasons we invaded Iraq, but I don't think anyone can disagree with the desired endstate:

End State
. ?An Iraq at peace with its neighbors, with a representative government that respects the human rights of all Iraqis, and security forces sufficient to maintain domestic order and to deny Iraq as a safe haven to terrorists?.
