*Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island, died in 1894. He willed his birthday (November 13) to a friend who complained she'd been born on Christmas and had never had a real  birthday celebration.
*Francis R. Lord, a famous Australian, left one shilling to his wife "for tram fare so she can go somewhere and drown herself. The inheritance was never claimed.
*Patrick Henry, American patriot, left everything to his wife...provided she never married again. "It would make me unhappy, " he explained, "to have worked all my life only to support another man's wife!" She remarried anyway.
