This I Believe
I believe that one needs to stick to his faith and beliefs all the days of our life. A person should always stick to our faith and be thankful to God. Religion should not be something we take lightly or throw away because it takes up time. I believe our religion and faith should be the most important aspect of our lives. Religion defines who a person is and influences their outlook on life. I believe that we should never take our faith for granted. In order to receive God’s help, a person will need to ask for his help by going to church and praying to him. Otherwise, that person is nothing more than a practical atheist. If you do not stay true to your personal convictions, you lose your own identity. Thus, those people really do not believe in anything.
From my family’s experiences, I find that when you do not stay to your beliefs, there are negative consequences. It was when my brother and sister lost time for their beliefs that their lives got into disarray. My sister stopped going to Church. She shortly after broke up with her boyfriend and then felt lonely. Depressed, and feeling no one cared for her, she started to drink and turned into an alcoholic. It was only when she started going back to the church and what she believed in that she was able to break the habit of alcohol and get back to her life. My brother also started having his problems after he forgot his beliefs and stopped going to church. His marriage is falling apart as his wife cheated on him and no longer wants to be with him. My brother is lonely. But, now with the help of my family, he is going back to Church and asking for God’s help to solve his marriage problems.
I
also have similar experiences of my own. I used to not pay attention at all during
church in grade school. I hated life and did not even want to live. In high
school, that changed. By opening my heart up to God and truly professing my
beliefs, I found a solution to my problems. I now have a crutch to comfort me.
No matter what happens I think God will be with me. Therefore, I am ready for
anything that happens. If nothing else, you should always stay true to what you
believe is a part of you. This I believe.
