I do not think requireing all students in a class to have a web site is feasible for most teachers. But offering web site creation as an option or as extra credit mihgt be really good.

Comments from my recent summer sophomore summer students. Tehse were responses to and end of course take home "Three Things I Really Leaerned in This Course."

The last important thing I learned is about websites. When we learned how to do websites during freshman year I never really thought I would use this information again. I didn't see the need or use for them in my life or their benefits. This class has shown me the benefits and uses for websites. It is a good way to keep all your work organized and in one place for study. It is also a good way to show other people your work such as your second semester Theology teacher. Doing websites has helped me stay organized and challenged me to use previous material from freshman year. I hope to use them more in the future after seeing the true benefits they have.

The final topic that I have truly valued being taught in Mr. Sciuto's summer theology course is the use of websites. Truthfully, when he first told us that our website would be a major part of the course, I was stressed. I tried thinking back the the html I had learned the last summer but I had no recollection. When I approached Mr. Sciuto's website for the first time and I saw all the links and information, I was in awe. The internet webpage can be such a beautiful constructive teaching tool. When I went to the links he posted that helped us with html, I became more comfortable. After I completed the assignments, I became fascinated with personalizing my webpage, which I thought wouldn't even be an option at the begining of the course. On our website, we had to include our journals, which were basically a personal response to questions and ideas of the message of the chapter. We also included web assignments which were on the topics of the Gospel of Matthew, who is Jesus or a parable, and the creation of a sacramental. The web assignments were a type of unique project where students got to show their creativity especially on the final assignment. I have come to value our webpages because of the skills I learned, the quantity and quality of information shown, the easy communication factor through email or postings on individual web pages, and the creativity and ideas of students, past students and teachers. The webpages have helped me when I had trouble on the journals. Especially, on the personal question. If I looked at a student's question on their webpage, I could begin seeing what to look for when asking questions. Looking at students web assignments and links on their pages were fun and interesting too. I learned about students and teachers concerning the hobbies and creativity. The sole true reason I came to value the web page was so I can express my creativity to the community, classmates and teachers. I value uniqueness and I believe web pages and the Internet are a wonderful way to express creativity.

One thing that I really learned from this class would be my computer skills. I am so happy that we so frequently used the computers and websites in this class. My typing speed has improved greatly and my html editing skills have sky rocketed since I started taking this class. Not only was it a very efficient way to manage my work, but it was a fabulous way to improve computer skills. I am glad that we used the html style of editing our papers and work because now I plan to continue the pages that I have started. If I didn't take this class, I would have never been available to learning all of the great ways to build a website. Another way my computer skills improved was through file management. I had to find ways to convert file types, upload them to geocities, and manage them in folders. This will definitely pay off this upcoming year when I will have to write multiple papers and manage more work efficiently. Overall, I was very pleased with how well the computers worked out with our class. If I had the option of primarily storing all my work on websites I would certainly choose that route. The computers are great teaching tools if they can be used effectively.

Another thing I learned was the usefulness of websites.I learned that creating websites are fun. They also are useful because you can see what others can do. You can take ideas and base them off the others. If you like what they are showing you, then use it, but do not forget to credit to them. Also I learned that there are many good sites out there that you can learn from and also take ideas from them. They are really useful to give information to others and explain to others what you are doing.

The first thing I learned was how to create a website on my own. In my freshman year, I learned how to a basic website using HTML commands. When this course began, I had forgotten almost everything I learned from the previous year. As the course continued, I began to become a lot more comfortable with the website building, thanks to the help of my classmates and the website building sites. I now know and can apply HTML terms in order to create a visually appealing and attractive website that pleases my classmates, as well as myself. This is so important to me because our websites played an important part on our grade. Being able to execute a good website helped my grade, as well my forgotten knowledge of HTML.

I really appreciated the fact that we were able to make websites. With the websites, we were able to show our work to the whole world. Also, it was a fun way to show our personalities with the different customizations. It was a challenge the first couple of days creating and updating the site with the work, but it became easier as time went on. The course really helped my computer skills with me being able to create a web site.

One thing that I learned from this class is how to make my own website. Before this class, I did not know how to make a website because I did not remember from my freshman computer class. I think that building the websites gave a little more fun to this class and I liked that I could view other peoples’ work and ideas on their websites. This is a useful tool that I plan on continuing to use for personal sites and maybe other classes this school year.

Nick Kreutzjans Another important idea I learned from this class was how to build and update a website on geocities.com. I always thought that the only way to make a website was page builder or on the browser at SLUH. I never thought that I could make a website for everyone in the world to see, and one that would be so easy to do. Making the website, was a cool way for me to share some interesting ideas and sites with my classmates, and helped me learn religion outside the class room. I am always looking for teachers who will connect the subject to my life, and putting our religion class on the internet did that for me. I found that the websites were an educational means of learning the subject. In this course if I ever needed extra help on a topic I was just one click away.

One thing I have learned from taking this course is the advantages of making a website. Although it was difficult at first, after a while it became easier and a more enjoyable way of completing my work and remembering the chapter. I also learned that web sites are a great way of organizing your work without having a binder, notebook, etc. As I continued added to my website I learned much more not only about building web pages, but also about utilizing other websites to improve mine. By doing this, I began to learn new techniques for my website through the works of my other classmates and from other websites in general. After completing this course, I know much more about building and using websites.
