Morality Course
Tentative Grading Plan

400+ point grading scale
About 50 points per section of the course
plus two 50 point exams

There are six major sections worth 50 points per section.
* 10 points classwork. Students are expected to do well on reading quizzes, contribute to class, hand in homework on time, being responsible when clas is misssed and give sufficient effort in their journal and web assignments keep thier web sites up to date and working..
* 10 point intellectual journal. This should be on your web page and a hard copy should be handed in with the day after the section test. Usually five parts, rubric grading: 1) One paragraph summary of the key idea summarizing the topic of the week. 2) List and explain three of the most important ideas you want to remember from this week. 3) One image of that reminds you of the topic. Attribute, link, your source. 4) One good question you should keep with you to ponder. 5) What should you try to do to make you a better person, a more faithful person, form this study.
* 10 point web assignment or web essay. Usualy there will be multiple options for this. Students always have the option to contgract if they have a better assignment in mind.
* 20 points section test.
Homework: reading, some quizzes, some assignments will be graded and recorded but not be part of the numerical grade. These evaluations will be used to gauge effort, cooperation, and help the student to know if he is doing and understanding the content on a short term basis. Student will receive one overall grade for quizzes, homework and class work per section.
Extra Credity is encouraged

Quarter and Semester Exam each worth +50.
Remember that you can earn up to +10 points per quarter extra credit. All extra credit must be approved by the teacher.

Grading scale:
A+ = 95-100% A = 90-95% B+ = 85-90% B = 80-85%
C+ = 75-80% C = 70-75% D = 60-70% F = Below 60%

It is hoped that all students will earn an A or A+. Individual assignments, quizzes and tests should be challenging, but there is room for error, a great amount of extra credit available and a lenient grading scale. Students often have much freedom in choosing assignments.

A key to doing well in this course is doing the work, especially the study, as it is assigned. Another important habit is to learn from mistakes. Quizzes set up tests and tests set up exams. Important ideas will reoccur, sometimes word for word and sometimes in new ways. The major purpose of quizzing and testing is to provide a learning opportunity: to be able to see what you know and to find out what you do not know and need to learn.
