THREE PARAGRAPH ESSAY
First paragraph: Clearly and completely state the idea from the text. If there are many parts to the key idea you need to list them all. Second paragraph: Show how the life of Ignatius brings this demonstrates this idea. If there are multiple parts above, you need to deal with each that is relevant in this section. Third paragraph: You can add closing remarks. Here you state your personal ideas and feelings about what youve thought about in this essay. Show how this has meaning for you here and now. What does Ignatius have to teach you?
This should not be a simple response, an unreflected reaction done at one time. It should be a thoughtful essay reflecting a good measure of what Zanzig called effective criticism. This takes a bit of time. You should reread the entire section of the key idea you chose after reading the story of the The First Jesuit.
The final essay should at least be a second effort. I urge you to do a rough draft, then return later and edit and improve. It is always a good ideas to have someone else proofread major papers for you. The completed paper should demonstrate all you have been taught about to write an essay. Follow the guidelines for heading, title and margins.
