Direction Day Mass
First Reading: 1 Corinthians 12
Gospel:The Parable of the Talents

"One body, many parts"

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Tim Curdt's Orientation Day Reading
Ephesians chapter 4, 25--32
Rules for the New Life

Mr. Curdt's Prayer service revoled around the benefit of a map at the beginning of any journey and the help of guides. He urged the freshmen to take risks.

So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil.Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy.Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

Mr. Stewart's Morning PA Prayer first week of school 2005
Adaptation of Romans 12

Keep it real.
Don't like bad things.
Hold tightly to the good things in life.
Love each other equally.
Be kind to each other and show respect for all.
Never lack enthusiasm.
Be a passionate soul.
Worship God and be dedicated to your love for him.
Be happy with future possibilities.
Wait out the bad times.
In order to keep going and not give up, you must turn to God for help.
Act as saints.
Be nice and loving toward those who are cruel.
Chill with the chillers.
Be sincere with those who are suffering.
Be wise: harmonize.
Don't be proud, but spend time with the poor and unfortunate.
Don't act like you are better that you are.
Don't hate the haters.
Take good away from everything you experience.
Don't get even.
Treat your enemy like your friend.
Love the "hell" out of people.
Don't accept evil as okay or normal, but instead turn around the evil by doing good.

First thing to realize/You are getting a brand, new start. You can choose to be wo want to be. You get to redefine yourself.
1. Get involved, but find something you really like. 2. Work harder in preparation. Judge yourself not by the results but in how well your worked to prepare. "Did you prepare to do the best you can?"3. Do something for somebody else. 4. Put God into your choices. You, and I, tend to do whatever we want to do, what is comfortable or benefits us personally; put God in whatever you do. 5. Don't be just an athlete, or a brain or a theater person. Fiind and maintain balance. "When one door closes, if you are ready, other doors can open."
Something Mr. Nicollerat said last last year: See the best in people, even (especially?) in people and experiences you do not like.
