Content assigned: Class began with asking students to reflect upon where they chose to sit in class and why and did it make a difference? Was this decision deliberate, reasonable, good? Or was it emotional, habitual, not a good choice? What about other decisions in your life right now: driving, alcohol/drugs, sexuality, words, how you spend your money and your time, education? What about your view of Jesus, your faith, your religion? What does it mean to be Christian? A Catholic? We also talked about the difference between faith and Faith.
The major assignment of this section is an essay "Was Holden Caulfield a person of faith?" Handouts on Plato's "allegory of the cave," the myth of Icarus, the Indian fable of the nine blind men and the elephant, "The Five Foundational Lessons," "The Key Teachings of Jesus."

Relevant, personal philosophy usually begins when one finds self pondering real questions posed by life. And one can arrive at good answers and better and answers and poor answers. hence, "the unexamined life is not worth living."

How do these demonstrate the idea of faith and its consequences: Eric Clapton and Holden Caulfield. What about Flick Webb, "The Ex-Basketball Player"? Be able to tell a story from your life that illustrates the importance of faith, or lack of it.
List and explain the Five Foundational Lessons. Be able to show how these are real in your life--or explain why they do not apply to you.
Know, understand these great classic myths/stories that have been important in the history of philosophy
