Advice from Some Freshmen of the Class of 2008

Life is busy. Be on top of your schedule, not behind. Do that homework early, study for that test a few days before. High school is important so do your best work. Make friends. Get involved in extracurriculars, and most importantly have fun.
-Mike Clanahan

You'll get used to everything by the second semester. There is never tomorrow. You might want to put it off, but the work will never go away till summer.
-Noah Mitchell

Do all your homework the night you get it. Use your planner. Don’t let it fall apart or your grades will.
-Ryan Myers

Grades in high school are not like a box of chocolates. Work hard and you’ll know what you’re gonna get; slack off and you’ll know what’s coming too.
-Tony Becker

Do your work. It may seem a lot at times but it’s worth it because you’ll learn so much more.
-Andrew Bouquet

Take everything seriously. If something seems too easy, make sure you are not missing something.
-Josh Dripps

Don’t listen to music when you’re doing homework. I did and I failed loads of tests. It also extends your homework time.
-Brendan Falsetto

Listen. You’ll hear a lot of great stuff. Important information. Funny jokes. Useless trivia. Something that will make you think. Something that you don’t agree with. Then speak. Your view of a subject is just as important as anyone else’s, then they can have a chance to listen. Don’t be afraid to talk or to listen. Fear is useless. It doesn’t make you feel any better. Trust me, I know.
-Steve Kuehner

Study every night. Don’t just do homework. Read and mark your books and highlight. This helps you study with the books. -Andy Alseth

Just be sure to try things out. Don’t write people off as this type of person or that type and by the end of the year you will have made a lot of good relationships. You’d be surprised how much other people have to offer. Also everyone will tell you to get involved with everything but if you’re busy which you will be, you’ll only have time for a few and that’s fine. Make sure you have a few clubs or sports no matter what. Your best friendships will come from here.
-Dan Warner

New ideas, new things, and new people are a reality in life. Open yourself to these changes and share your uniqueness with others. You’ll be smiling!
-Matt Anderson

Do your homework! It sounds basic, but if you just do all your homework on a daily basis you will thrive. The development of good study skills is also big.
-James Burke

Do not judge people. When you get to know them you will see a whole different side. Work as hard as you can. As long as you try your hardest and you know it the grade is secondary.
-Dan Niese
