1) Colossians 3:12-14
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bare with one another, and if anyone has a complaint with one another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you; so you must too forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
I chose this passage because I feel that it is something that everyone is working on 24/7. Being able to forgive someone can sometimes be one of the hardest things to do. If only the lesson of forgiving one another could be instilled at an early age, and then when one gets older, he or she would be able to forgive easier. However, I not sure if forgiving should be easy, if it was easy, then there would no point in asking for forgiveness, because you know that you will receive it.
Teens should learn about this because it is something that everyone should be working on. It shows a lot of key values (compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience) that are very important in becoming closer to God and Jesus. I believe that teens should especially learn to become more humble and patient because, I even notice that I start to lose patience a lot easier now than ever before.
2) 1 Corinthians 10:13 No testing has overtaken you that is not uncommon to everyone. God is faithful and he will not let you beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out for you to endure it.
I chose this passage because I like the general theme of the passage: Everyone either HAS GONE, IS GOING, or WILL GO through what you are going through. The whole passage centralizes on the idea, that we all go through struggles in our lives, and we think that no one knows what we are going through. Well, if you feel like this then you can always turn to God in your life because he can solve anything, and he will be with you all of the way no matter what.
I believe that teens should hear this message because a lot of teens go through a phase where they think that their entire world is falling on them, and that there is no one who can fix. However, this passage says, "NO! Just about everyone has gone through what you are going through. Yes, maybe the circumstances were a little different, but that doesn't matter. The real reason is: they got out of it, and you will too!"
3) Galatians 6:14-18 But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has become crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither does circumcision mean anything, nor does uncircumcision, but only a new creation. Peace and mercy be to anyone who follows this rule and to the God of Israel. From now on let no one make troubles for me; for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. The grace of Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
I chose this passage because I believe that in conveys a strong message: That it does not matter what you do to worship God, as long as you worship God. This passage tells of the issue of circumcision. Paul is just fed up with all of the problems that have been going on, and how everything kind-of expects him to solve most of them.
Teens should hear this message because some teens feel all caught up in the spirit, and they really show it off. Then, the people that do not show their faith as much as the ones who show it off, feel bad and wish that they could have the faith like the ones who show off their faith. However, the ones who do not flaunt their faith need to realize that as long as they acknowledge God, and do what is asked of them, then they will be just fine. This is even touched on in the gospels, when Jesus talks about the ones who flaunt however much they gave to the temple, but the one who gives up what little they have and keeps it quiet is really the better one.
