TRIP TWO - Lizzy Borden
WHO:          Moo & I
WHEN:        April 12th - April 14th, 2002
WHERE:      Springfield, VA
WHAT:        Lizzy Borden show
WHY:          This roadtrip stuff is fun, and Lizzy Borden is my fav. band so why the hell not?  Besides, who knows when they'll tour again?  And                       Lizzy is the reason behind all the "traveling for shows" shit... ahhh                       that's another long story.

Well, well, well.  We asked Ivan to go but he couldn't so we were afraid at first.  Just us 2 little girls hitting the road ALONE?!?!!   Our folks would never go for that so we said Melissa was coming with.  I think we also said Melissa went with us to D.C. so our folks wouldn't think we were bailing with some guy they didn't know, even tho we did.  I'd been friends with Ivan for awhile tho so I trusted him.  But anyway... ahhh another Lizzy show!  As of now it's the last show I went to.  Back in Jan. 2001 when their tour dates we released my life took a pretty dramatic turn that led me to the freaky weirdo I am today.  Life is all about concerts, I decided.  And damn, the call of Mother Road was strong... I was feeling very bummed since by then I'd missed my last 3 chances to see GWAR shows so this was much needed.

Moo and I left Orlando around 9 or 10pm, Moo screeched into the camera about the beef jerky we'd bought that was the wrong kind. "WTF is this?"  she howled.  "I SHIT bigger than this!!" she continued as she held up the small smear of jerky in disgust.  Our car was packed with shit we probably wouldn't need, one of the lessons we learned from D.C. but didn't quite learn.  I napped during the day and we drove straight thru.  Sleeping along the way during trips never became a reality until the fall.  We got to our hotel too early (again!) so I tried to nap in the car while Moo painted her nails.  When we both decided we couldn't sleep, we went to a local mall and waltzed around.  I tried to nap before the show but I was too excited.  After my shower I remember going up to the now-foggy mirror, hair all dripping, wearing nothing but that towel and grinning ear to ear telling myself I was going to see a show tonite.  But not just any show... my fav. band.  No fucking way.  We showed up stupidly early, as usual.  Met 2 guys there who were cool as hell, lil Moo took a liking to one of them even tho he was 36, but hey.  He said if she was older he'd go to prom with her.  Poor Moo ended up taking a blowup doll to Prom.  No joke.  Met up with a girl I knew from online, another Lizzy fan, she too was cool as hell.  We walked around the outside of the venue a bit, saw some familiar faces.  It was cool to be recognized, they remembered me from the FL, CO, and CA shows (before I had my car I had to fly around for show, but obviously that got too pricy so that didn't last long...) I was "Lis from FL... wtf, is she stalking us?"  Get used to it Lis... you'll be asked that from here on out till you die.  Why is it that if someone's a dedicated fan and wants to see a show people automatically think you are stalking them?  Isn't stalking when you want to strike fear in someone?  Don't flatter yourself, I'm stalking your music not you.  But ya'll are cool tho!  Some of the coolest 'famous' types I've ever met to this day.  We hung out on the bus a bit before the show and I was overcome with that horrible creepy feeling.  I have a strange phobia of other people's beds.  Except hotel beds or a family member.  I hate sitting on them, I hate being too close to them, I just get horribly creeped out.  The thought of someone's bed being nearby was uncomfortable as fuck, I ended up bailing and helping them run some errands instead.

Front row, we assumed the position!  It was Moo's first Lizzy show so she was psyched, too bad she had a tremendous headache from hell.  :(  I love that feeling when the lights die down and the smoke starts, music begins and the band hits the stage... that anticipation is unreal.  Moo and I learned the true meaning of that a few months later.  The show was awesome, took tons of pics, Moo loved it.  We got hit with some blood, ahhh our nite is complete!  After the show we got pics snapped, said hey to everyone, the usual shit.  Marten was kinda hungry as were Moo, myself and my friend LJ (girl we met up with) so we all bailed to some Italian place for some munchies.  Moo sat in the booth and looked like she was going to vomit. "Is she okay?"  Marten asked.  I figured she'd be alright, but if only we knew... took our food back to the venue, Moo was really starting to change colors.  We went to their hotel to pick up their bus driver who was snoozing and Moo collapsed in the hotel lobby.  I forget how we got her back to the car but she sat up front breathing heavy and scaring the shit out of me.  I feared her weakened lungs were acting up again and I'd hafta rush her to the hospital.  We got back to the venue and within a few moments, poor Moo opened her side of the car up, held on for dear life, leaned over and yakked her brains out.  OMG, WTF?!?!  How could she puke when she hadn't eaten anything?  Fortunately everyone was cool about it, the crew and everyone were grabbing paper towels, ice, water, plain soda, rubbing her back, searching for crackers... she got the royal treatment but too bad she was too sick to notice it.  We still aren't sure what happened to her that nite... maybe it was her nerves, she was real excited.  Lord knows that happened to me in IL a few months later.  Maybe all the smoke from the show was too much for her lungs?  Maybe since she hadn't eaten she was sick?  Maybe the weather change?  Who knows... we eventually retreated back to our hotel, I remember remarking to Moo that this was the first time we'd each had our own beds at a hotel.  It would almost be the last time too, sadly enough.  So we both enjoyed the freedom and hogged up our respective beds.  I prayed she felt better by morning, I think she did.  I don't remember if we had breakfast or anything tho.  But I do remember we spent most of our camcorder tapes talking about the show after the fact.  Got home to a group of friends who all thought I was psychotic and prayed this was the last time I'd run out like that.  I'd planned roadtrips before in 2001 but they all fell apart for one reason or another.  Now that I'd done it on my own (driving, that is...) I felt real cocky that I could do anything.  Before the year would end, we'd push ourselves to some pretty extreme limits "all in the name of rock 'n' roll!"

Lessons Learned:
-  You bought camcorder tapes with you so USE THEM!!!  Don't use them to review the show after-the-fact.
-  Always eat on the road, even if you don't feel like it.
-  Once again, you don't need a suitcase full of shit for a one-nite trip.
-  Taking 2 no-doz is NOT a good idea.  No matter HOW TIRED you are... you'll shake and twitch for hours.

"You didn't know how rock 'n' roll looked, until you caught your sister with the guys from the group, halfway home in the parking lot, by the look in her eye, she was givin' what she got!!"
