| "Where where where is the Same Jane, queen of Rock 'n' Roll? Where where where is the Same Jane, baby where'd you go? You used to party, spend all your money, why'd ya hafta change???" |
| Well I guess there's no "who, when, where, what" to start for these! These are the trips that never happened... happy little roadtrips that woulda been another dart on my map... some girls have "notches on their belts" while I have "darts on my map..." I shit you not. There is a map of the United States on my wall that's littered with little darts for every city I've hit for a concert. I'm so proud of it... *wipes tear away* It's all about the little darts on the map! But anyway... March 27th, 2001, Lizzy Borden in S.Carolina A typical Tuesday morning!!! Except for the fact that the previous week had been one of the nuttiest in my life. I'd seen 2 Lizzy Borden shows and bailed on seeing AC/DC twice, pissing off my friends and unknown at that time driving a stake thru my relationship with a close friend. I was going to see Lizzy in S. Carolina that nite or in N. Carolina the nite before. But I had a test on Tuesday the 27th... NOO!!! As soon as I got back from Jacksonville on the 21st I was desperately trying to plan it out. I could pull it off if only I could get the professor to let me take the test the day before. He wasn't budging. So I figured I could take the test (it was at 8:30am) and finish in about 45 minutes then fly outta there like a bat out of hell and make it to Myrtle Beach in about 9-10 hours. Of course, it'd be 7pm, cutting it REAL close since he was the opening act, not headliner. Oh man, when I have time I'll type up the chat sessions I had from Monday the 26th, it's crazy. I was so excited and tempted to go... I talked with my roommate, a friend and my sis who all were angry as hell that I was even considering going alone. Even Moo told me to not do it. My friend said if I even peeped another word about going she was going to come over and chain me to my dorm. End of that... I was depressed and pissed so I went into Sludge chat and talked with my friend Mitzi. She said, "Hey, they coming to CO?" I checked... ah, 3 shows! "Well then... get your ass out here! I'll drive you to the shows if you show up..." Well that opened another can of worms... but no need to write about Colorado here since it DID happen! :) August 26th, 2001, W.A.S.P. in S.Carolina August 24th & 25th were my first W.A.S.P. shows, ahhh whatta trip!! I sorta fucked up & didn't admit to one of the members who I really was ( a dedicated Metal Sludge fan and they HATE the website...) when I saw them on the 24th in St. Pete so when he somehow found out who I was he confronted me the following evening and I was scared like a little bitch. He had nothing nice to say 'bout me to anyone after that until we had a long talk after the show and he calmed down. Yah it sucks but I love Sludge & I love W.A.S.P.... I wasn't about to tell Sludge all the shit I saw/heard during the shows. But anyway, despite that spanking I had a blast and wanted to go again! I called up Melissa after the Orlando show (actually I called her while we were still backstage and freaking out...) and told her that they're playing in Myrtle Beach tomorrow, we can make it if we leave around 7am... she said she was game! I decided that even if she didn't go, I was gonna do it!!! Well... talked to her around 7am, she had relatives coming in and I was SERIOUSLY considering doing it anyway. Everyone said no, it's dangerous, don't do it, we'll kill you, etc.... so I puss'd out and didn't. Something about Myrtle Beach, but I was never meant to go there I guess. When I finally did, it was awesome tho... similar to the Lizzy/CO thing, I went online and whined to my older sister. "Well, do they have any California dates?" Looked online... "yep, in about 5 weeks they have 2 but one's 21 & up..." She then said those famous words... "Well then, get your ass out here!!! I'll go to the shows with ya if you show up in CA!" And I don't have to write about California on this page either cause that DID happen. February 9th-10th, 2002, Judas Priest/Anthrax in Columbus/Cleveland, OH Ohio? Are you fucking crazy?! Yep, yep... I'd heard it before! This was going to be my furthest trip yet! Melissa & I were going to see this tour, who cares about the snow and shitty weather? This one was planned before I saw them in St. Pete and Orlando because a) we knew it would be a killer show and worth the drive & b) Melissa couldn't go to any of the FL shows so this would be her only chance to catch the show. We had directions printed out, hotels booked, maps bought, numbers of friends to hook up with in Ohio, it was ALL good! Then the boy Melissa babysits for got sick about a week before. Not wanting to ditch the kid, she couldn't go on the trip. But she said she'd let me know on Feb. 8th (the friday morning we were going to leave...) for certain. I went out on the 7th and had one of the absolute shittiest nites of my life, I don't mean to dangle a carrot over your face and keep a secret but I say this only so you'll understand the "aftermath" of the trip being cancelled and why I was in such a horrible mood. I didn't even get home until Friday morning around 6am. No word from Melissa... finally heard from her around 9am or so, she wasn't going. I stayed home all day, didn't go to work or school... went out later that nite to buy some cookie dough and root beer then proceeded to sit in front of the T.V. and watch movies, consume junk food and get sick while bawling my eyes out. Friends & family from around the country called! I guess I told my family first and they let everyone know... but my friend from OH called, people from CA and CO, it was nice to be consoled and they all ended their calls with, "But don't get tempted and drive out there by yourself or I'll kill you!!!" Unfortunately I couldn't fix this problem with a phone call and a plane ticket... saturday morning I went to the computer lab to see where they'd be the next weekend. Ah ha... Sunday nite in D.C? I'm there... and I was. :) Where there's a will, there's a way! All my cancelled trips thus far were fixed... until the GWAR fiasco... March 1st, 2002, GWAR in D.C. Yep, Moo & I have seen our fair share of GWAR shows but we also had our share of letdowns and lost chances... more than any other band actually. But talk about perseverence! We tried, dammit. So we fucking earned our right to haul around the country in late 2002! NEXT!!!!!! |
