SLT-AFC.Latest-Info.com Newsletter

Like many SLTs, I have found it hard to keep track of the various documents and websites about Agenda for Change.

• 
  
• Amicus distributes offical information through the "Reps Direct" email service.
  
• RCSLT publishes official documents on its website.
  
• There are pages and pages of information on the DoH website, as well as all the DoH AFC documents to download.
  
• Gill George, SLT from London Region, has kept many of us in touch through her rapidly growing email list.

To help SLTs in the North East and Cumbria to keep up to date, I set up the SLT-AFC.Latest-Info.com website. This started as an offshoot of our SLTnorth website. When I added anything to the website, I emailed SLT-North Yahoo! email list members, SLT Union Reps and Managers and members of the Amicus-MSF Tyneside Health Service Branch.

These email lists overlap so it made sense to set up a separate mailing list just for AFC information for SLTs. It made even more sense to invite any SLT interested in AFC to join the mailing list and contribute information to the Newsletter and website.

So here we are - Update Number 1.

The next issue will follow almost immediately. Future issues will be sent put when there any new information is received.

Organising for Agenda for Change

An email list can help you to organise.

SLT Union Rep's and Managers in the North East and Cumbria have set up a Yahoo! email discussion list at
SLT-RAMP.

We use this to share information and organise meetings.

You can discuss Agenda for Change

• With SLTs on the RCSLT Noticeboard
  
• With Amicus-MSF members from across the NHS at MSFHealthSectorMembers
  
• Arrange to meet for an online discussion at the
  RCSLT Public Chat Room
  or the
  SLT-North Group Chat Room.

You need to join the SLT-North group to use the Group Chat Room - see the "Join this Group" link at the top right hand corner of the SLT-North Chat Room page. There are Chat Room Tips on the SLTnorth website.

So what is all the fuss about?

The job profiles ~ for example, we are rated as having less-well developed communication skills than biochemists. See discussion on the RCSLT Noticeboard.

Increased hours and less pay ~ comparison of current Bands and salary for proposed profiles graph.

Wondering what you can do? ~ Have a Regional Union Meeting and reject the job profiles. The North East and the London Region have already rejected them.

Got to the SLT-AFC.Latest-Info.com website to download the SLT job profiles plus responses from the North East and London.
