Directions for extra credit: Reporting on a current event 1. The proper heading must be at the top left corner of the paper. (name, number, section, date) 2. Your paper must be typed and contain exactly 6 sentences. 3. The paper must have a title. You may create your own title or copy the one from the source. 4. The paragraph must be printed in four colors, or you must underline or highlight in four colors. topic sentence--blue three secondary sentences about the article--red or pink highlighter one sentence giving your opinion--green (Never use "I", or "My".) final sentence--a conclusion about the article you are reporting on-- black (If you are underlining, the black type is sufficient.) 5. The article you are reporting on must be no older that 7 days on the day you turn it in. 6. Use newspapers, news magazines, or news websites from the Internet. 7. Remember to use grade appropriate sentences--no elementary sentences. Your sentences must be complex to get your information down in such a short paragraph. 8. Proofread to make sure that all words are spelled correctly, there are no grammar errors, and the sentence structure is correct. 9. Remember to attach the article to your paragraph. The article must include the date it was printed. 10. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. Parents may not write the work for students. It doesn't help you learn, if your parents write a perfect extra credit report. 11. Your paper will receive 5 points it it is done correctly or 0 points if it is not. You may redo a 0 paper one time to try for the 5 points. If you choose to do so, you must attach the first draft to the second one. 12. Remember to keep your articles appropriate. If you are in doubt on appropriateness, see me first. 1st trimester--25 points possible 2nd trimester--20 points possible 3rd trimester--15 points possible GOOD LUCK!
