The Great Hikes
This is a sampling of some better hikes we have taken over the years. Click on the thumbnail to go there.
Turn East on Johnson Creek Road off US 12 2.5 miles South of Packwood Wa. Follow this two lane, usually well graded, road for 13.2 miles. Turn left on road 2150, a narrower two lane dirt road drivable with passenger car, and follow it for 2.8 miles. Then the fun begins turn left on road 014, questionable for small cars. In a half mile reach Berry Patch Trailhead at 4600 feet. Using trails 96A and 96 in four miles and 1100 feet of ascent you will reach Snowgrass Flat and the Pacific Crest trail where there are many options.
Goat Rocks Wilderness
The Ausable Lakes are closed off to the general public. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with or have influential friends you will not be allowed to enter. When Jim Goodwin offered to bring us on a canoe trip to this beautiful area we jumped on the opportunity. Thank you Jim we can necver repay you for this trip of a lifetime.
