| This example of DUUAAHH comes from the El Dorado News-Times. This guy is supposedly on the Musicfest board, and Boy Howdy, he wasn't too happy about us playing right outside the fence surrounding their tired old festivities. | |||||||||
| I realize that's a small picture. In case you couldn't read that, "What can I say about this year's Musicfest in El Dorado that hasn't already been said? We had double the attendance of last year's festival. Everything went off withought a hitch, and the committee was the perfect team. This was my first year to do anything with the Musicfest committee, and I had an absolute blast as the guy in charge of booking local and regional music. I regret that I only had a limited number of slots available because I heard a lot of good bands that I had to turn down. Of course there are a lot of bands that I turned down for a very good reason. It's really rough doing what I did without catching some hard feelings from some people. I am by no means a music expert, but I tried to be objective and book what I thought the crowd would enjoy. Did I succeed? I hope do. I was so proud of the music that we booked this year. As someone who basically grew up playing in different bands from the street to the present B-Stage, I can safely say Musicfest has come a long way. Co-chairmen Steve Lehew and Rudy Bright gave me the unbelieveable opportunity to contribute to this festival, and I fully enjoyed it. I worked my tail off, but it was the most fun I've had in a long time. Thanks so much for the opportunity!" (here comes the good part) "I want to address one issue that came up as part of the festival. It's something that completely floored me to hear, especially since I have been down the road these guys and girls are travelling. The only difference is I didn't let bitterness get the best of me. (high five for you, man) To the band and friends of the "Lovebutter Connection" I can only say, no one associated with Musicfest ever heard you, and you know what? You just shot yourselves in the foot. If you had approached me about playing, I would have at least given you guys a listen, but instead you decided to set up and play in an alley. Do you not see how that degrades your cause? It didn't hurt us at all, but it did hurt your chances of playing music around here, outside of that alley anyway. When I was in high school, we played in a band around here, and we enjoyed it. There was no egos attached to us. We didn't walk around like big shots because we could play a song. It was fun. Folks, thats the bottom line for ?Musicfest, I think. We tried to make it fun for everyone. We didn't intentionally exclude any participants or shut out any band. This year's Musicfest will go down in the record books as one of the best, I think, and I'm proud to have served on it. The weather was perfect. The attendance was perfect. (The one remaining member of Foghat was perfect) And everybody had a genuinely good time. We accomplished what we set out to accomplish, and I hope hext year's is even better. |

| And by the way... it's THE LOVE-BUTTER CONNECTION. Love and Butter are two different words, seperated by either a hyphen or a slash. We haven't decided yet, so either one is fine. Another tragic typographical error slips through the fingers of the editing department! |
