Sacred Peaks and the Fourth World

To the East and West dwell the Hurung Whuti, those ladies who brought all the People forth and protect us still.  The Lady of the West lives on the Sacred Peaks from whence the Katsina come.  These spirits of our ancestors bring moisture to us in the form of clouds, mist, and the life-giving rain of late summer.

Look close at my best pot, the large one in the center.  There is a repeated design of steps.  These steps represent the way up from the last world through Sipapu, which is located near the Grand Canyon.
