When rich man was eating expensive steak which unbelievable price for someone, but, at the same time, rural farmers have no money to buy something to eat. This is the unwanted result from misdevelopment.
You may confuse that what is misdevelopment for me. Actually, it concern many part such as business sector, social sector, and political part. It look like a triangle we can't apart. If some change, the rest will follow. It might not be caused from internal but external factor possibly. We can untie it if every problem was not effect or create the new ones. Every policy has direct and indirect impacts. Strong considering is very important for policy maker and all concerned.
Ok, let's come back to the word 'misdevelopment' I gonna explain next. The meaning is on individual base. Thailand has advantage point especially in agriculture. We have good soil and excellent various plant. Appropriated climate that some countries never have. We never have food insufficient problem. But why we never think about that. According to our majesty the king, he advises us to pleasant to what we have. He showed us sufficient economy. I think this is a good way for our society. However, we can't achieve it because of some group of people especially who has necessary changed power did not appreciated that.
I didn't want to bring you to political concerning but it was unavoidable because it related directly about setting one who are able to up some policy effecting people in our society. Especially present government, Thaksin Shinawatra priminister, he believes in westernized development or capitalism. Capitalism is an economic thinking that describe private mechanic power. This methodology emphasize that free competition, without government interruption, is effectiveness. Production factor will be distributed and used in effective process. The advantage point of this one is everyone is free to do anything they want following their specialization. However, This is some of theorical assumption that is not as same as in real world. The fact is people are different, for instance an opportunity to choose the way to succeed their goal. I can give you some example about opportunity different, such as children in rural and children in town which their educational opportunity are not equal.
It is as same as in boxing game when the red is a big and strong guy but the blue is a small and weak one. If we let both of them fight, without rule setting, we can quite sure about the result, of course, the red will beat the blue down exactly. From the latest stuff, I just want to show you even the game seems ok but when we look deeply in detail, like both fighters, it is not fair for the small one, similar to the rich and the poor. In the world of competition, one who stronger, richer, full information is more advantage than other. This group of people are very few amount, especially in developing countries. They improved themselves by doing business which some are legal but some is not. When economic power is succeed, then he will search for more in another way. The necessary one that can sustain their economic power forever or keeping their profitability is that they must control the rule of business competition. The power which can do that is political power.
Political power does not bring them profitability directly but it crates bargaining power. They used the power to adjust or keep things appropriate to them. They played with insider information that is very important. When you get necessary information before other, it mean you are advantage them. You know how to behave and prepare yourself. This is why most of merchant try to grasp political power at the same time with doing business.
