The family that lived on the northern side of Tanjong Chek Jawa had a old wooden jetty extending dozens of metres out past the mudflats. It was only one plank wide in places which scared some. I on the other hand loved sitting at the end of that old jetty and relaxing to the wind and the waves. Lots of Philippine Glossy Starlings (Aplonis panayensis) used the jetty pilings as perches. Seeing some of them duck into the posts, I peered in and discovered that they nested in the rotten hollows of the posts: |
