There are three kinds of sea anemones I have photographed at Chek Jawa: beads, fans (or peacocks) and carpets. Remember that the common names are not fixed and different people call them different names. |

| Finally we have the large carpet anemones. These anemones have very deep 'roots' which they can withdraw into when threatened or when exposed by the tide. The picture below is of a carpet anemone contracting into itself while the lower right picture is of retracted anemones waiting for the tide to cover them again. |
