Pulchrana baramica (formerly Rana baramica)) English: Golden-eared Rough-sided Frog Behaviour: According to *********, both sexes can be found sitting on branches in the undergrowth near water. The females sit on branches below knee level while the males sit on shoulder level branches. All pictures here are of a gravid female at Sime Forest in March 2001. |

Hydrophylax raniceps (formerly confused with Rana chalconota) English: Copper-cheeked Frog Behaviour: At Nee Soon, observed to remain stationary at the bottom. Diet: Tadpoles feed on vegetation and do not seem to take meat. Diagnosis: White lip and copper tympanum. Tadpoles yellowish or orangish with paired white posion glands on sides of belly. Habitat: In forests near running water. Often perched in the grass above the water. Status: This frog is fairly common in the forests of Singapore. |
