Opening of New Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple (洛阳大伯公宫)
Saturday 4 August 2007
I didn't catch the Loyang Tua Pek Kong (洛阳大伯公宫) procession bringing the deities to the new building at 20 Loyang Way but I hear it was quite the crowded and spectular parade.

Temple Committee Offering Incense While I missed the procession on the night of the 3rd, I did make it in time for the opening of the new temple itself at 3am on the 4th.
Here is a shot of the temple's committee offering incense at 3am just before the barriers were taken down and the public allowed in.

Hall of New Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple (洛阳大伯公宫) @ 20 Loyang Way As you can see from the phots on the left, the main hall is very grand. Although the building itself isn't that big, the hall is the largest Taoist/拜神 hall I've seen in Singapore.

There are gold and lights everywhere.

While impressive, it's not quite my taste in decor (my aversion to gold for one).

土地神 The funny moment was after the temple committee had finished offering incense to the 土地神 (Earth God) shrine outside the temple: you can see the cloud of incense trapped in the shrine.

It look all the world like it came straight out of a comic book illustration of a fairyland grotto.

Parked Sedan Chair I checked out the basement carpark and the sedan chair that brought the Tua Pek Kong to the new temple had a lot of its own there.
