| April 18, 2002- Well today was a little interesting. I had to get up really early to get my weekly bloodwork drawn. No big deal, except last night I couldn't get to sleep for the life of me. I think I ended up getting a total of 2 hours of sleep during the night. So I feel crappy when I had to wake up after so little sleep. Then I get to the hospital and everything's going like usual. I get back to the blood lab and sit down. My name gets called and I walk myself back to the room and I see this new nurse. She was young so I knew she was new becuase all the other nurses are pretty old that I had seen on all my previous visits. I sit down and she starts to prep my arm for the bloodwork, you know rubber band, make a fist, look for a vein. But she couldn't find one. She actually was feeling in all the wrong spots and that made me a little nervous. Actually it made me really nervous when I told her where my vien was. See, chemo makes your veins really hard to stick, and my veins were hard to find in the first place so I'm really screwed when it comes to bloodwork and IV's now. Anyway, she finally finds the vein and goes to stick me. All I can say is "OUCH". You could tell she was pretty new to all of this. So I sucked it up and came home with a nice big bruise on my left arm. I plopped down on my bed, turned on my computer to listen to some music and lay down. That was about quarter after seven. Thankfully I fell asleep. I napped off and on until 1:30. I was glad becuase I really haven't been sleeping well and I needed the rest. Later on in the afternoon Tracy called. I was happy she called becuase, well becuase I love talking to her and it gave me something interesting to do for a few minutes in my otherwise meaningless day. And becuase my day is otherwise meaningless nothing else happened at all. Once this is all over I can't wait to just go out with friends and normal stuff that I should be doing. |
