b. prob Isle of Wight Co.,VA ca.1657 d.1706, mbr 1st Vestry St. Pauls Parish,
Edenton, NC 1700-1701 & cont. as Vestryman till death, mbr NC House of
Burgesses 1704, built 1st sawmill in province, carpenter, ship-builder, and
metalworker. Fought in Indian War of 1699 and owned land at Ragged Point on
south side Pamlico River.
