Soon after marriage they removed to Palmyra, Lenawee, MI, where he was a blacksmith. Afte r t wo years there they returned to Huron County, OH. In 1856 they moved to Crestline, OH an d h e took charge of the smith-shop of the Pittsburg, Ft. Wayne and Chicago R.R., then in 185 8 t o Ft. Wayne, IN with the same road until Christmas of 1864 when he retired and entered th e gr ocery business. In 1870 he managed the smith-shops of the Pittsburg Locomotive Works i n Pitt sburg, PA where he remained until his death.
