Kidnapped by Delaware Indians ina raid on 2 Nov 1778, from her father's home near Wilkes-Bar r e Fort, PA, she was not heard of again until Jan 1835, when an indian trader, Col. Georg e W . Ewing, of Logansport, IN discovered her on the Miami Indian Reservation near Peru, Miam i, I N. She did not desire to give up her life with the Miamis and remained with them, the w ido w of their chief Shepoekenah. She did however, recocile withher Slocum Family members i n h er last years. Subject of many books and articles.

After marriage, farmed at Tunkhannock, Luzerne, PA until 1823, when they removed to OH. Settled at York Twp., Sandusky, OH 30 Mar 1824, near the town of Bellvue, Huron, OH. Served as Post master.


Elizabeth PATRICK

Died after being thrown from a carriage in a runaway.


Issac SLOCUM

Blacksmith and farmer. First Captain of the "Wyoming Blues" military company in1805. Commis s ioned Associate Judge of Luzerne County, PA in 184 9 for four years. SlocumTwp., twelve mi le s southeast of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Slocum Postoffice, three miles from Newport Station, w er e named in his honor.
